torrent downloads speeds seem to be affected by your upload speed that you should be able to set in your client.
dont set your upload too high doing so will restrict the data your sending in the other direction, if you use your full upload speed your downloads will be reduced. normally 3k bellow your max upload speed should be enough as long as you dont do any other downloading, web browsing shouldnt affect it.0 -
Do you have a firewall ? Make sure you have all your ports open or it will restrict the number of peers who can see you. It could also be down to the tracker you are using some are just plain slow.Nothing to see here, move along.0

The general belief is that IPS's have put a cap of 20kbps on torrents.Herman - MP for all!0

Several ISP forums and a phone call to Pipex last week. There are still certain unaffected clients that use encryption that will get round the cap.
If you are using one of these already then you may well be none the wiser. Also, your ISP maybe hasn't capped (yet?)Herman - MP for all!0 -

for a start. Maybe not as low as 20kbps but it can be pretty low. What goes around - comes around0 -

That refers to the monthly bandwidth used.
The OP is talking about download speeds from other internet clients. Download speeds on bittorrent (and other p2p clients) are dependent on the source.
The OP should do an ADSL speedtest and compare it with others on their ISP and similar packages.0 -
quicker broadband ones up to 40x faster then normail dial or even faster0

Do a search for a program called "Dr TCP". You can change various network settings to make your Internet connection more efficient.0
