Freeview box problem?

Options
Hey, I need some help with my freeview.

My freeview box is a digifusion FRT103 I have had this box for a few years. I have started experiencing problems with it.

When I view channels on multiplex C (Dave, E4+1, Sky News, Sky Sports News and a few radio channels) I get a message saying "Service has changed please press ok to retune your box" When I do retune my box it just keeps coming up. It is annoying because it takes up all of the bottom of the picture. Also it stays on all the other channels. I cant view Multiplex C channels because of this. Is this a problem with the freeview box its self?

I have heard that some freeview boxes have broke because of changes to do with the transmitters. Is my freeview box one of them.

Thanks for the help.

Try a different one. If it works OK then the answer is "yes".

Some makers of Freeview Receivers did not adhere to the correct rules for future proofing, sounds like your receiver may well be one of those affected.
  • I think it is the box its self. I have just tried my sisters with my ariel and it works fine.

I think I will be going to get a new one on saturday. From a better known company this time.

Manufacturers of cheap freeview boxes used to use a low-cost chipset which didn't comply with the Freeview spec. They worked ok at the time because, although they skimped on (at the time expensive) memory, they had enough to cope with the available channels. But as the number of channels has increased, the boxes run out of memory and become effectively useless.

You may be able to make a claim against Digifusion, it seems that they did not comply with the Freeview criteria.

As far as I know, Digifusion is Tesco's own brand and the boxes are actually made by Vestel in Turkey and sold under a variety of brand names.

We have a different Digifusion box and occasionally, when something like this happens, we have to unplug it from the mains, wait for a few seconds and then plug it in again.

It would also help to know which transmitter you receive your signal from - if you don't know it then it is often shown somewhere on the setup screen.

    .

Digifusion was a British owned brand, it has been owned by Beko since 2005, they are not a Tesco own brand.

    Tesco's own brand is Tecknika.

As suggested earlier, you may be able to make a claim against Digifusion, they are owned by Beko now.

    Otherwise just get a replacement.
