Tips for repelling mosquitoes for Greek islands

my husband and I are off to Kos next week and are looking for ideas on trying to ward off mosquitoes - as I've suffered in the past from many bites

thanks

Jungle spray, it doesn't smell too good but works for us. We spray it on before going out in the evening.
Plug in mozzy things, you can get them in supermarksets and chemists. Plug them in before you go out in evening.
We have never been bitten so would assume they work ok!

I use Avon Skin-so-Soft dry oil body spray before I put on mozzie repellent.
Over 15 years ago, Thomson recommended it in a little book about Goa & Sri Lanka and I've used it ever since.
You need the green one (soft and fresh), not the pink (soft and sensual).

We use Autan Tropical repellent spray and the plug-in ones with liquid in for the room.

I wear trousers or crops and don't wear perfume.

    Keep away from stagnant water.

Unfortunately, I think mozzies either like you or don't - and if they do, you'll get bitten.
We've just come back from Turkey and slept with our balcony door wide open and didn't get bitten.

I second the above, you need a repellent with DEET in it, nothing namby pamby.

Knockdown spray also helps (the stuff you spray around the room and it kills all the flies, do this before going to bed).

the mozzies fly over my boyfriend to come bite me... I have always got bitten since I was little.

took it more serious when we went to Goa (cos of malaria) and wore kaftans on lots of evenings which covered me up from the mozzies - less bites than usual.
we also bought the insect repellent from the pharmacy when we got out there (so we had same one as locals) - i don't know if this makes a difference?

    good luck!

50% deet - jungle roll on stuff usually works well, or any of the generic stuff; no perfumes/perfumed soaps; tablets in plug-ins put in before you go out in the evening, use an aspivenin asap if you do get bitten to 'draw' the poison and reduce the reaction, and, if you're on anti-histamine for hay fever, keep right on taking it. Try all of that (my usual routine!), & add in the fact that Kos is quite windy, and you should be ok!

    I third this:D

The Boots silver range is good 50% Deet (thats the strong one).

    Usually on offer too:money:
