Penny-pinching campsite! Advice please

Options
Hi, I've just phoned to book a few nights here http://www.lindisfarne.org.uk/beachcomber/campsite.htm

and she gave me the price of £7.50 per person per night. I pointed out that the price on her website is £6 pppn. She said "yes but that's for mid season and you're booking in high season". Just re-checked the website and the £6 quoted is clearly for high season.

Does the site owner have a legal obligation to give me the advertised price, or can she charge me what she likes?

Thanks

She (probably) doesn't have to offer you the stated rate as she hasn't actually offered you that price.

There is, however, an obligation for advertising to be correct - trading standards is the route to go down.

She is allowed to charge you what she likes as long as she makes it clear in advance, which it seems clear she has done. You can either decide to pay it or not stay there.

Also, that website is not their own and has not been updated since 2008. Most likely they do not have the ability to control the content. Their own website has different prices.

Thanks for your advice all. The campsite owner thanks me for bringing the mistake on the website to their attention, and agrees to accept our booking at the lower rate quoted on their own website.
