Last week I did pretty well, 3 out of 4.

    1) - Books. Amazon. List. Immediately! - No, don't know why I keep putting this off as it's sooo much easier than listing on Ebay. Will definitely do it this week as I really need some extra money coming in as I'm pretty skint.
    2) - Jobs. Apply for minimum of three. - Yes and I have an interview on Tuesday afternoon.
    3) - 20p's. Save lots towards birthday day out. - Yes, have saved approximately £3.
    4) - Library. Join. - Yes, don't know why I haven't joined before. It's great, you can borrow up to 15 books at a time for a month! I don't think I could get through that many in a month though, so will probably limit myself to 4 at a time!

Goals for week commencing 9th April:

    1) - List box of books on Amazon.
    2) - Five no spend days, food shopping for the week has already been done and I can't think of anything else I need to buy.
    3) - Have meeting with Mum as we are going into partnership with a business idea. Need to decide on a logo and which stock to buy first.
    4) - Continue with healthy eating and aim for 3 exercise sessions of at least 30 minutes each this week.

Can't think of anything else for now, so that'll do!

I'm going to join in this week, as i have been unofficially lurking for a few weeks and i think it will help me be better organised.

    1) Try to spend no more than £100 including petrol money when visiting DH's parents over the bank holiday.

    2) catch up on washing/ironing before Thursday, so i'll go back to work after the bank holiday without worrying about it.

    3) finish 2 mini-cross stitches before going back to work.

    4) go get all veg needed for less than £10, and use new slow cooker to make at least 2 meals with freezable leftovers this week

    5) have another look at the budget to boost my savings

Enough to get me started anyway,

    Good luck everyone,
    Michelle

    Hi folks

Last week was my first week. Oh dear, not all accomplished.

    1. Cut down on showers/baths at home - go to gym before work three times this week and use their facilities (they even supply shower gel, handcream, cotton wool, tissues and hairdryers - kerchiiiiiiiiiiiing!). Managed once before work, twice after work.

    2. Do work out at gym (before shower, of course!) hence feeling that I am a) using my membership to full potential and b) getting some exercise. Accomplished!

    3. Take own filter coffee to work in space age looking flask rather than spending a couple of quid on Cafe Nero coffee in a cardboard cup which always leaks anyway thereby cutting spending and stress of mincing delicately down the road in high heels trying not to spill coffee. Accomplished!

    4. Take all lunches to work. Accomplished!

    5. Prepare some meals in advance this afternoon (Sunday) so I have no excuse about "can't be bothered to cook because I'm too tired" when I get home at night. Accomplished!

    6. Renew library books on line to prevent overdue charges. No - why? It's not hard, is it?

    This week:

    1. Gym before work three times this week.
    2. Keep up with the filter coffee in a flask.
    3. Lunches to work.
    4. Precook meals again.
    5. Renew library books! (am going to do this NOW!)
    6. Two no spend days (apart from buying newspaper).

    Good luck all
 What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about?

You may remember that I have mentioned DS1's special trip to China. He has been very ill in hospital since last Thursday. He should be transferred to Bangkok tomorrow. I haven't thought about anything else, and my only goal is to get to Bangkok on Monday/Tuesday (arranged by the insurance co. who have been brilliant) and be with him until we can bring him home.

You guys are all so fantastically supportive, so I hope you will forgive this rather off topic post.

Won't be posting for a while.

    Serena.

Oh my, another week gone by!!

    Last week my goals were:

Have one no spend day. Yep, today!

Chase people who are being slow in paying for ebay items. Yep, chased and got payment from all!

Don't spend more than £5 on food, just need top ups! Almost, £5.13 :o

Concentrate and do my best on more mystery shopping jobs, that'll be £40 earned Yep, done, £40 earned!

Investigate how long it takes to be payed for mystery shopping jobs. Yep, at end of month. So have to wait for my £40!

Take home made food on long journey to avoid motorway services prices, allow one coffee if I need to wake up! Nope, too many probs and all too hectic, gave in to getting kfc and coffee. First time in 6 journeys though so not too guilty  :j

Ok, then, the coming week is different cos I'm staying with my parents so no food shopping etc :D Some goals:

Spend as little as possible to make up for last week's huge gas and elec bill :rotfl:

Get my shopping fix by spending some of the £55 in various vouchers I have (hmv, whsmith, high street). These are payments for little jobs I've done just to buy some treats for myself so enjoy spending some (not all!).

Make nice food at home for lunch rather than always going to nice sandwhich shop in town, maybe allow this once as a treat!

Start clear out of my room into "keep", "ebay", "charity shop", "freecycle" and "bin" categories :rotfl:

Don't get bored and buy stuff on ebay! Keep busy by investigating new version of turbolister and listing stuff (see above).

Don't eat too much chocolate :rotfl:

    Have a good week everyone!

Serena - hugs, I'll be thinking of you and your family.

These were my goals for the week just ending:
    1. Two no-spend days - achieved, Fri/Sun
    2. Think about cc repayments as I've just cleared a card and will have access to Christmas Club (yes, my timing has drifted a bit!) funds this week. Do I want to move from stoozing to a cashback framework? - I have given this some thought but haven't come to a long-term solution yet. Priorities right now are to continue paying the same as I was for the cleared card to the current card so that we don't 'feel richer' and boosting the Christmas Club with max payments to start the year.
    3. Get out my beads and make two pieces for raffle prizes (one adult, one child) plus present for sister, try to find the fun and inspiration so that I'm keen to keep on after this - good thing I put this down as a goal or I'd have visions of trying to do it on Tues morning right before the event! I soldiered through this morning (fun part seems to still be mostly AWOL but might be better without a headache!) and by starting with old stock now have: For raffle - two remade bracelets, one new necklace (adult) one remade necklace/bracelet set (kids). For sister - new earrings. For niece - new necklace.
    4. Tidy my desk - not yet, bumped to this week as I do want to do it!
    5. Plan meals - yes but this didn't entirely translate to a planned shop
    6. Sort out/deliver birthday presents to sister, BIL and MIL - 2/3 and I can almost certainly engineer bumping into my sister at my other sister's place where we'll all be rushing to see the new baby :)
    7. Get through what is likely to be a tough week - yes. It has included illness and a funeral, but on the plus side also contained a cleared credit card, a ticket to see my favourite band and a birth in the family.

    Goals for this week:
    1. 2 no-spend days
    2. Update accounts spreadsheet
    3. Tidy desk + declutter
    4. Use Serena's flapjack recipe and if they turn out okay take to Playgroup event
    5. Do groundwork for building website for Playgroup
    6. Regularise meals and cut portion sizes
    7. Go to the Farmer's Market early
Do I Need One Stops All Unnecessary Reckless Spending
    £2 CSC - £30 :kisses3:

  • Hi everyone,

Serena - I'm thinking of you and your family - I hope everything goes smoothly and that your son is well and can continue with his trip.

    My goals for LAST week:-

*Three no spend days - Only one :)
*Keep up-to-date with eBay orders - Kind of - got some items to clean, parcel up and post tomorrow and another order to start.
*Low spend for visit to Crieff with my mum (she's taking me for a revitalising day at a spa!) - I'm scared I'll be tempted to spend on meals and goodies - NO, NO, NO! See my shameful post on yesterday's spending thread
*Put up babysitting cards in local shops etc - Still not done
*Phone Inland Revenue re. starter pack for business - Yes
*Phone to find out the cost of day returns and week passes on bus journey to work - Yes
*Overpay Mint card with PIN money from babysitting, Amazon, eBay, closing savings account etc. - amount to be confirmed - Yes, overpaid £120, really should've been more though but had both some silly spending and some unexpected expenses - at least it's an overpayment though!
*Send off 'letter before action' to reclaim bank charges from RBS - Yes, sent 3 copies, just to make sure they got the message - roll on 14 days!!
*Go to library - NO - Still no, why? It's just behind my house!

    My goals for THIS week:-

*5 no spend days - have no cash so should be very possible
*Sort out balance transfer to 0% no fee Barclaycard from Mint and set up direct debit for minimum payment
*Cancel Mint direct debit and Mint card
*Sent off proof of address and proof of id to open Smile account
    *Go to library
*Have a lovely chilled out day with OH tomorrow - make sure do something outside and free i.e. bike ride, picnic or walk or all three
*Jobs for Easter bank holiday weekend - cleaning, gardening, finish eBay order, list more in eBay shop, list more junk from house, babysitting flyers

Looking forward to this week - only 3 days at work!

    scottishspendaholic x
    MBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
    Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500
    Bank of Scotland = £2,782.83
