Shopping online for groceries!

I'm doing my first tesco online shop, its being delivered on friday.
I am doing a massive monthly one and have allocated £20 a week for the butchers milk fresh stuff and bread during the week.
The big shop has come to about £170, this is the first month so i may have over ordered or under ordered. Its trial and error this month, I'm also going to try asda next month and see what if any the saving is!
Is it sad to be quite excited about my first online shop??!! :rotfl: :rotfl:
 Life's way too short!

Have you come across supermarket comparison?
It will allow you to compare your basket across several on-line supermarkets.
A useful starting point, though if you shop for a lot of own brands it gets a little more complicated.0

TroysMum - I love the grocery shopping online. I can dither and dilly dally and not get tutted at by the trolley behind me. And it is so much easier to 'put things back' because you can see the running total.
jb5 - that site is absolutely marvellous! I use it all the time, because it also points you in the right directions for bargains and offers.
My weekly shopping timetable goes something like this.
Wednesday - delivery and start the shop for next week on www.mysupermarket.co.uk. I start by going through all my favourites and seeing what we are likely to actually want.
Thursday - add all the things to the list that I have remembered while I was doing other things
Friday - send basket to Mr S so that I can get the delivery slot I want.
Saturday and Sunday - dot on and off remembering and forgetting things
Monday - pare down the list by about half to what I actually need.
Tuesday morning - last minute impulse buy (usually cake ) and finall pare down. ) and finall pare down.
Wednesday - start again. It's like a rolling shopping list. I very rarely forget anything vital because at some point I will be near the computer when I remember it!
And I don't have to pack, unpack, load and unload and it really is so much easier.
Edited to add - the rottweiler - I have only had it happen once, in so many deliveries, even though it is only an hour time slot. I felt as if Christmas had come early!Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0

I love online shopping and still say it saves money!! There's only 2 of us so I think the delivery charge (if it's high) does make the saving less but it's so much easier.
I meal plan but find when I do it for the supermarket I have to re-do the list in the sections of the supermarket whereas online I can chop and change sections and collect the bits for one meal then move onto the next.
Recently tested as I didn't have time to online shop I went into the store and ended up spending £10-£15 more!! I am sure this isn't usual if you are used to shopping in a supermarket but I certainly wasn't and missed the convenience of being able to quickly see which item was cheapest.
Just about to do my online shop now! Like sybil I am always nr the laptop so whenever I think of something I need I pop online and put it in basket 0 0
