Like alot of people, I am having to leave my country, friends & family to move to another country for work & better quality life. I leave end of august & I got in touch with O2 in june. I upgraded my phone in January meaning I was going onto a new contract for 18months. This is due to finish in October 2010!!!!!
I was told I have 2 options - pay a lump sum for the rest of the contract or carry on paying the monthly payments until the contract finishes (what choice)
.
Either way I will have to pay £420 for a service I am not using.
Other option is to transfer the contract to someone else, but in this day & age everyone has a mobile phone
Any advice - any suggestions gratefully appreciated!!!!!

Unfortunately you signed a contract and have to abide by it.0 -
I have the same problem
Am tempted to just just leave and cancel all my debit debits!
I think this is not in the interest of the consumer and is inethical!0 -

Why? You'd singed a contract. Its legally binding if you didn't understand that you should not have singed it. Contract are there for both sides. If you could just walk away when ever you felt like it no company could operate it not just in the interest of the customer.0 -
have you tried to see if you can get a reduction by returning the phone as the phone is often a large part of the contract cost.
But as they say, contract is there for both sides.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0
