N97 on a 12 mth contract. am i missing something

My son is after the N97 and we have agreed to go halves with him. so ive searched around and found it on vodafone on a 12 month contract, compared to 24 months with vodafone, with dialaphone.

You get 600 mins unlimted texts as well as unlimited mobile internet all for £45 and you have to pay £20 for the phone.

this sounds a gret deal but i feel as if its too cheap and im missing something?

    12 x £45 = £ 540 + £ 20 for the phone = £ 560

    Vodafone sim only 600 mins unlimited texts £ 15 / mth = £ 180.

If you can buy the phone for under £ 380 it's not a good deal, but as they are £450 plus............................

That *is* a really good deal - I was going to get it myself last week, but then I noticed that Dialaphone don't let you take your existing number over to Vodafone... I don't know why - maybe it's worth calling them to ask as it's a freephone number? Not sure if that's a dealbreaker for you, but it was for me..

Oh and 'unlimited internet' means no more than 500MB a month, or you will be charged. It's still a fair bit though, unless you'll be viewing lots of Youtube videos

I still think it's better to pay £40/45 a month for a good deal like this for 12 months than be locked into an 18 month contract though ;)

Just remember with Voda you can only port in at the point you start the contract, they won't let you afterwords...
  • We were going to go for the 24 month contract with vodafone as he has a 30 day sim deal with them. But id prefer a 12 month as it means i get to stop paying in 12 months when hes 18:j rather then 19.

    Thanks for all the help.

Sounds like a bum deal to me. Who on earth pays £45 a month for a mobile phone??!
Anyway, I think I think you have got the deal wrong.

It is UNLIMITED TEXTS ONLY, or...
UNLIMITED INTERNET and 250 texts per month.

Do their prices include VAT? I would double check this!

Another thing I have noticed: In order to buy a contract phone from Dial-A-Phone, you must agree to purchase their insurance at £6.99 per month, and their product support at £17.58 per 6 months.

Obviously, you are just paying for the phone...You can get better deals than this in the shops, on better phones!!

    What about this one?

    http://threestore.three.co.uk/dealsummary.aspx?offercode=18UT20D119

...you get the latest Nokia E63 phone with unlimited texts, internet, 3 to 3 calls and skype calls! If he wants the phone for videos/music etc...buy him an IPOD!!!!

Wow that is a good deal.
    Plus Nokia N97 - Available for £19.95!
Nokia N97 Available today for £19.95!

---Plus Unlimited Text MessagesWith this great deal you will also be entitled to send unlimited* text messages to standard UK mobiles absolutely free!
*subject to a fair usage policy of 3000 texts per month.

    ---Plus Unlimited Mobile Internet

    All for £45 per month?

If you do go for this offer, remember to cancel all the additional add ons.
    (Unless you want the insurance)

Such as the "Gadget helpline support" for £17.58 for every 6 months
Then their insurance of £7 per month.

(I hate it when they add stuff on, so you have to phone up and cancel it, so sneaky )
