In light of the fact you didn't pass on what type of DSL you've got, it could be Cable (VirginMedia) or ADSL (AOL, BT,Demon, Zen).
You seem to have two compatible routers which support BOTH standards: http://www.netgear.co.uk/wired_cable_router_rp614.php of course then there's those that may have had a negative experience with it, compared to those that received a positive experience. Personally, I use a Linksys Router and they also have a Cable\Adsl suitable one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Linksys-BEFSR41EtherFast-Router-4-Port-Switch/dp/B00005KAC7 I purchased my own Linksys router some years ago, though not the same as described and it's been fine with regular flash updates when required.
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
I'm with Virgin/Ntl and use a TP-link (based on Netgear firmware) it works out the box, no complex setup, decent range up to my attic and gets good reviews

if your on BT and need an ADSL they do this one

Sorry folks.
I'm currently with BT on an ADSL connection.
Due to their broadband throttling (even though I don't download) I'm looking to move (potentially to www.fast.co.uk). These guys don't supply free routers though........John

And another question:
Will any router I buy (and I want a 5mbps 'G' class), have similar security encryption than a router I get from my ISP?John

^^^^^^^ this one is ADSL, wireless and fills all your requirements0 -
Incidentally, could I buy a router and try it with my BT connection, just in case the router is the problem? Or would I be bound by the BT router?John
