Had a busy day yesterday, as my aunt phoned up in the morning to say that they were coming to visit us in the afternoon (they live 200 miles away but are up visiting her family). Had a rush around tidying up and then made some gorgeous scones:T. I used a recipe from the Good Food website (ultimate scones by Angela Nilsen) they were really light, the kids were fighting over them. I'm going to make some more this afternoon. Dinner is HM pizza.
I'm really cross with myself as I made a load of chicken stock yesterday and then left it on the counter overnight:mad:. So I've ended up throwing it away as I don't want to risk DS2 getting ill, he's slowly getting better and is now walking without any support. We go back to the hospital tomorrow to see the consultant again. We still don't know whether he will need more surgery so we can't make decisions about birthday parties and holidays until we know what's happening.
I'm still trying to get into my routines and sort the house out but I'm really tired from lack of sleep and stress.0 -
Hi everyone,
bargain bird your pigeon lot looks palatial - I remember one of my uncles loft and it was nothing like that!
Ivyleaf and pippa, thanks for your thoughts for dad - he's still quite ill unfortunately, he's got a nasty sore whcih won't heal and he's having a bit of difficulty coping with his stoma but he is eating so hopefully he'll start getting stronger now.
Haribo, that meal sound gorgeous.
No Halight today? I hope you're ok Halight.
OS wise this evening I am going to make the pastry for S&K pie (did the filling on Sunday) and some scones - btw Country Life butter is 2 packs for £1.50 in Sainsbugs for those who use it. Ds keeps complaining that he never gets any scones when I make them - that's because he's not quick enough to beat his dad to them.0 -
Haribo - those shoes sound lovely!
It's not the shoe size that's the big problem for me, I wear a 7, 7'1/2 or 8 depending on the brand, but my ankles aren't very strong and I can't walk in heels without wobbling or actually twisting my ankles  , and have also got 3 toes which have ended up bent after being broken in the past. Last year I went looking for some nice court shoes to wear to MIL's birthday party, but the ones that looked nicest on me came so low down the front of my feet that I couldn't walk in them without clawing my toes, so I ended up with some that came a bit higher up - they don't look nearly so nice, but at least I can walk in them to some extentThe heels are about 2 inches high and not too narrow, so I don't wobble. They are made by Van-Dal - not sure if you can get those in Ireland, Marie, but worth a try if you can. Actually one of them is too tight atm, because my right foot gets very swollen due to varicose veins - I'm waiting to see a consultant but the appointment's not til October.
Fary elephant - Evans' boots are too small round the calves for mebut I do have some nice ones which I bought from Duo - they were dear, but worth it! I do feel a bit peeved sometimes when I see ladies who are a bigger clothes size than me and yet have really slim legs! Oh and I love the story of the cat in the bird table - sounds like the sort of thing one of mine used to do. He was tabby but had white "bib", tummy and paws, and he tried so hard to catch the birds but they always saw him coming however cunning he tried to be

Hi Guys!!
I am reading:D You are all so lovely and I do really appreciate all your kind words and hugs....I need them ATM. I would love all of you to visit!
My health is still poor and Ive not had energy to do much.....I feel 94 and not 34 atm. Ive been resting and sleeping alot and the nurse has been in 2-3 times daily to check on me. Have been in hospital but had the option to come home and have some treatment here, so I jumped at it.
My sister and I havent spoken for 6 weeks as I was honest with my feelings towards how I felt about her bringing another new BF home with the kids there and him sleeping over. I am not a prude by any means but this has really rattled me! This has been upsetting me as I dont want to fight (life is too short!) but I am so disgusted at her behaviour.
DD is doing well. She breaks up next week and we are away for a few days at our friends holiday home:D....so cant wait! She got her scores back for this year and report and its glowing...we are very proud!
We are getting an addition to our family when we return from holiday.....a lovely Scottie....guess what we are naming him? I know people will think we are mad with everything else going on but I think it will help me focus on something other than my illnesses and I have read that they can be theraputive (sp). OH & DD will be walking him and I am looking forward to the company. We have friends who can look after him if I am in and out of hospital etc.
Anyway, enough boring life stuff.
WM has been on today and is in the TD:o DW has been on and emptied. Cleaner here in the morning. Ironing needs to be done.
OH has been doing our room which he has promised will be finished by the time we go away:j:j:j
Dinner is steak, chips and salad.
Donny-Gal-Sorry I keep missing you on MSN
Twink & family-Thanks for my lovely letter and pressy
Haribo-Your garden is amazing and the views breath taking! You are a lucky girl.
Everyone else....huge hugs to you all.
I will try and post but I do read-promise!

Penny_Pincher! Hello :hello: So glad the hospital let you come home.
The Scottie sounds a lovely idea as your OH and DD can walk him. Something really nice to look forward to when you get back from your holidayWe've had cats in the past, but I'd like a little dog, I think - but DH is far from fit and well, so probably better not in case the poor thing ended up with neither of us able to take it out!

Penny Pincher What a great idea to get a dog :T I have read lots of times that dogs help with all types of illnesses and a friend of a friend of mine (IYSWIM?
) has her dog registered as a Pets As Therapy (PAT) dog. They go to hospitals, hospices, nursing homes, children's wards etc and just literally let people interact with the dog and stroke her. The dog loves it & so do the people who spend time with her. Your holiday will be lovely and you'll be spending some good time with your DH & DD. Well done to her on her report & test results :j

Good evening everyone
havent beenon for a couple of days seem to get sidetracked by face book havent got as many friends as the kids but i am getting there
Today i have been to collect mum from the airport and had to pick up a hire car and return it as i am too worried about keeping it here we should hear by fri about my car but i am really worried they may write it off but it is worth loads to me as i bought it with some money my dad left me as well as being exactly what we need and nothing mechanicaly wrong
DS had another accident at army cadets last night he fell over and has really done himself a damage to his hand we had to go to hospital and he was put in plaster and the bone was manipulated back into place he had gas and air which made the Drs and me laugh as he said some very funny things. Good news though have been to the school and he is returning in sept to the PLC and will have 1-1 tuition for all core subjects but we did insist that he did PE as that was the one option he wanted to do he will be Yr 10 he wont be doing Geography which is not too bad as he chose RE but they didnt run it so he should get some reasonable results in his subjects we also want to integrate him back in as the main problems are getting on with his peers
PP glad you are getting a dog they are so rewarding hope you are feeling a bit better i have been thinking of you all
B bird mine never cried when they left me only when they came home
Ivyleaf I too am a size 8 wide the most comfy ones i have found were those Ugg boots lovely in the winter and so comfy
DGal fingers crossed for DS
Hillstep congrats to you all
Haribo glad to see the dog has recovered from the wedding:D
anyhoo need to get off and catch up on some ironing in front of torchwood
Have a good evening0 -
Quick question....If you bought an egg poacher for £5 and it was rubbish...would you take back? OH bought one last week and have only used it once...awful! It was from Wilkonsons and have checked the recipt and says 28 days if not happy...it should be ok though...shouldnt it?
I sound like a skinflint...lol. Even if they can give him a credit note, that will be fine as I need a couple of others bits from there.
We did have a dog a few years back but had to get rid of him when I first got ill. I was devastated..maybe some of you can remember? It is something we have thought about for a while. Anyone guessed the name yet?
