:hello: Good morning!
Been raining here, but it's stopped now - won't do any washing yet though in case it starts again, as I have some things to wash which can't go in the TD. We too had a good thunderstorm yesterday
Hilstep - Congrats and best wishes to your DD and her OH.
Almo - Nice to see you back!
Peyton - Welcome back to you too - I hope you're not getting too tired, you've worked so hard.
Pink-Winged - belated congrats to you and Mr Pink-Winged on your anniversary the other day - I kept forgetting when I posted
Penny_Pincher - Thinking of you and hope you are feeling well enough to read if not to post, though of course you may be in hospital again, in which case I suppose you can't read it either!
taplady - Well done to your DS
snoozer - I'm pleased they have let your Dad home, hopefully he will get his appetite back now!
Went to Bluewater y'day and managed to get some nice sandals in the Sales :j Not pretty strappy ones unfortunately, my feet won't let me wear high heelsbut smart enough to wear when out and about.( How I yearn for pretty shoes though!) Didn't dare go into Lakeland, as I always end up buying something!
I've just found some mince and onions in the freezer so that's tonight's dinner taken care of :j
hope everyone has as good a day as possible.0 -
Bonjour
Looks like a ver quiet thread today, been trying to read, but do not have time to read while on line and then forget everything afterwards, but here goes.
DS feels his second face to face interview went well (thanks for asking H-J), and they said they would let him know early this week, but he hasn't heard anything yet, and says he is a "nervous wreck" so please keep fingers crossed.
Jayward ((hugs)) hope you feel better soon.
Pen-Pin ((hugs)) hope you can read and our good wishes are helping
hilstep - congrats on being a Granny. Just make sure the wardrobe design is based around storage and not just looks as I feel they often do.
Everyone else :grouphug: :hello:  as appropriate, belated birthday/anniversary wishes to anyone missed.
Still a little showery here, and when it rains it is very heavy and quick, though forecast to clear up this evening and tomorrow. DH wanted a day off from sight-seeing museum looking today so he is reading and I have come down to get on here.
Still OS/MSing - breakfast - Chocolate Curl Cereals Carrefour's own value brand, and longlife milk from Aldi in the UK.
Lunch - Ham baguette sandwich - Ham as above and bread from 8 a huit yesterday and popped in freezer to keep,
Dinner Starter Melon (3 for 5€) Steak from home with Salad and potatoes off the market here, and Cheese & Wine "do" for afters. Old habits die hard.
They had a basket in the foyer showing over 80€ for branded products against just over 40€ for the new range, very simple packaging, so looks like they are doing the same as we are.
Still another 12 days before we get back home, off to Honfleur on Saturday.
Take care - DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Howdy all!
Hillstep - congratulations to you and your daughter!
Not much to report here - I don't seem to have woken up this morning! I've lazed about all morning with the cat and a good book instead. I've got loads to do but I think that's the problem. Right now I've always got loads to do. Usually I don't mind but today I feel resentful about it and I've got no motivation. Does anyone else ever feel like this? Right now I just can't seem to care whether my house is clean or not.0 -
Good afternoon. On here late today as I've been pottering round then went food shopping. I am feeling very pleased with myself as I only spent £55.93 :T for this week. Thats for 6 breakfasts, 4 lunches and 6 evening meals plus snacks a day
Spicy lentil soup & a sandwich for lunch and chicken curry with rice & peas for tea tonight.
Hillstep :T :j Big congratulations to you & DD it's such an exciting time.
Redruby I think that 'nesh' is a Yorkshire word as my parents have always used it (they come from Leeds). In our house it means that you are a bit soft, feel the cold or are generally not being made of strong Yorkshire stuff :rotfl: My DD feels the cold and is always being told that she's nesh!
Penny Pincher (((((hugs))))) to you. If we all lived nearby I'm sure you'd be inundated with offers of help :A
Hugs & love where needed I'm off to get lunch then do some Flylady jobs0 -
The girls have taken the pup to the park/field within sight of our house and I finally have 5 minutes to myself.
OH is bringing a colleague home for dinner so I have been prepping bbq food. We're having rump steak marinaded in black pepper and chilli oil, chicken thighs marinaded in garlic and fresh herbs from the garden oil, butcher's sausages, HG salad including HG peas and mange tout, mixed veg kebabs and HM crusty bread. Followed by HM chocolate mouse with HG raspberries and strawbs.I say the raspberries are HG but they grow wild above the decking. I keep the birds so well fed that they leave them all for me. There are several kilos of them this year and I do nothing to look after them.
Have cleaned out the fridge and freezer today, finished the last of the laundry for the holiday and hoovered and washed the floors.
Spent another night in the tent with Dtwin1 so my back is banjaxed again.
Going to tidy the kitchen and put my feet up for an hour.
Congrats to Hillstep.
Ivyleaf... I am tall with big feet and find it difficult to get pretty shoesbut was delighted to find a pair of kitten heeled pink sequined mules from Oxfam (never worn) yesterday for a couple of quid.
Welcome back Almo. :hello:
Fingers still crossed for your DS DG.
Haribo x0 -
Hey Hilstep! Congrats to you and your DD - it sounds like (all being well) she & I will be due about the same time (OMG - it is so scary writing that!). I saw the GP this morning and my 1st Midwife appt will be 10th Aug when I am 10 weeks, but due to my age/history I get to go to Early PG Clinic next Friday to discuss any potential probs with someone from the midwife team and maybe book an early NHS scan if they think it is wise. I'm hoping so, as I'm pushing for all the help & support I can get this time!
Very stressed at the mo - have ranted on the Redundancy board and the TTC12+ threads so won't go into the whole thing again on here - but it looks like I am going to lose my job - although I think I have a fight on my hands as the grounds look dodgy to me. Have to go to a mtg in work tomorrw (hello - it is my day off!) to find out more.
OS-wise, not a lot today agin I'm afraid. We're going to the theatre tonight, so not sure if it will be a quick meal at home before we go (in which case pasta & sauce!) or maybe grab something when we are out.
Sistercas - yep - Capt. Jack's bum (and the rest of him too) was pretty darn gorgeous!!! (DH thinks I am mad and keep s saying '...but he's gay' as if that means he is not a fanciable man! LOL!)
Ivyleaf/Haribo have you tried Evans for shoes? I'm tall & big too, and I find they do nice comfy shoes which look good. Bit pricy though so I always look for the sales (they also do long boots which are big enough for those of us with chunky thighs!).
Donnygal - fingers crossed for your DH as requested!
Have a good day all!

Haribo can I come to yours for dinner?
Thanks for all the warm welcome back messages. Will try and get into a routine of posting again.
Very cold here this morning - was frosty when I left to go to work at 8am but have just got back (now 9.30pm) and it's warmed up quite a bit during the day. Not much OS on my part today but OH has done a little bit of washing up...
Hillstep congratulations! How exciting
Meanmarie our cat will eat anything - spicy pasta sauce, pureed apple and pear etc (not that we feed her these things deliberately, we know some of the ingredients aren't good for her). She also eats bread. Funny animals, cats :rolleyes:0 -
Afternoon
Still a bit dull here dry though so thats good,, need to spend an hour or so in the garden tidying up, theres a lot of dead heading needs doing and just generally yanking a few things out, and sweeping round.
Sandwich for lunch mustard ham I think
Been sorting the freezer out and found some mince I forgot was there so it looks like spag bol for Dinner,
bargainbird - love your pidgeon loft....its better than my shed.....:rotfl:

I've just put bird food and bread out for the birds; there's a stray cat here who likes the bread. He's obviously starving and I don't have to heart to shoo him away. As it turns out, the birds are used to him because he doesn't try and catch them, so they just wait on a nearby hedge until he's had his breakfast. This time, however, he scoffed all the bread, so I had to give them some more!KathyXX
Aww bless!!!
Reminded me of my old cat (very daft he was). He took to getting inside the little wooden 'house' on the top of next door's bird table and waiting with his mouth open - just as if the birds were going to fly down and jump straight in! Thing is it was a very small 'house' so only his head & front half fitted in - the back end stuck out and his tail hung down and twitched constantly - not even the dumbest bird was going to go anywhere near LOL! He also used to sit in the bedroom window watching the birdies on the table, jumping up at the glass like he was trying to get them! (ruined my net curtains....)
Mind you - he also use to try and catch the seagulls which landed on the lawn - gawd knows what would have happened in he landed on one as they were almost as big as him - I imagined them flying off with him clinging onto them yowling!!!!!The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

Afternoon all,
Cooler here to-day, bit of a drizzle earlier but has gone now so have taken a chance with 2 machine loads, hopefully it will dry outside.
Donnygal....will keep my fingers crossed for DS....DD4 has interviews for two different schools next week...one is almost beside DGS school but she thinks she would prefer the other where she did some supply teaching a few years ago...hopefully she will get one and not have to make the decision herself.
Lamb chops, new potatoes and turnip greens for dinner to-day....will leave the turnips in ground to grow on, tops are taking over the place so need cutting...bok choi has mostly gone to seed so am using it up too.
Haribo....can't join you for dinner unfortunately but sounds wonderful....am jealous too of your wild raspberries, mine have only produced about a kilo this year although they aren't finished yet....definitely need more canes for next year.
Kittens are in and out all day now, I leave the kitchen door open so they can get out and seem to be now chasing the white cat away...he/she looked well nourished so am not concerned about him.
Hillstep....congratulations to you and your daughter and OH....being a grandmother is wonderful, I will have my 3 granddaughters here next week and at least one grandson, maybe both...it will be bedlam but nice bedlam!
FE....less ranting from you young lady, calm down and stay that way....don't let your employers dismiss you unfairly but stay calm about it.....
Ivyleaf....have been looking for ages for a nice pair of 'court' shoes in black and am having very little luck....they all look like what we used to call 'nun's shoes'...with apologies to any nuns reading this thread. I would dearly love to be able to wear a pair of heels, somehow I think that they would make me feel 20 again, will need to buy something very expensive I think....they would have to last at least 10 years if I do that.
PenPin, hope that you are feeling better, take care
Hugs to all in need or want
