Won an amazing holiday, but don't think we can go - UPDATE!

Oh God, I feel awful, I've won the main prize in the second Go Ahead holiday draw but I don't think we will be able to go. Its 7 nights in a 4* hotel in Cuba with flights and private Salsa lessons.
However since entering the comp things have changed for the worse with my DH's job and he does not think he will be able to have any leave, we certainly dare not risk his job with the way things are. It's the most amazing thing I have ever won and I'm almost in tears here thinking about having to tell them we can't accept the prize. I have to phone the company who are organising the trip tomorrow to arrange the holiday but I think I'm going to have to let it go and hope it goes to someone else who'll have a wonderful time instead. I know you guys can't help me but I just wanted to get it off my chest abit, it's making me feel sick. Maybe they'll let us pass it on to one of the runners up who won a wii in exchange for their wii - t&c say not but you never know I suppose.
Sorry about the rant:o.
Firstly, thank you so much to everyone who replied, it really helped me feel better reading your posts, you are all so lovely:A. Go Ahead and the company managing the prizes for them were lovely and are sending me the runners up prize of a Wii and Wii fit which I'm thrilled with as it's one of my TWBM in 2009 prizes wishes:j. I think the holiday will probably be redrawn - I hope it goes to another MSE'er. There was no way I could have gone on the holiday so this is a wonderful outcome for me and I'm really happy.

These companies are usually ok, and quite accomodating. Explain to them the situation, and ask if you can delay the holiday.
Would his bosses not be a bit sympathetic if he mentioned the prize too them??? Even if he wouldn't get holiday pay, they may just let him have a week unpaid leave????
You / he wont know until you try?
Hugs

Don't worry,
I won the trip of a lifetime low level trekking in the Hialayas last year but had to let it go because my wife was expecting our second and I had to take the trip by a certain date. I just couldnt risk it because she was early with the first.
Sometimes you've just got to let it go mate. It's not easy but remember that you haven't financially lost out because it's not like you paid for it then couldn't go is it?
All the best and keep on trying.
