Beware Scottish Power

If anyone out there switched to Scottish Power following a telephone call from a Scottish Power agent it would be advisable to check that the tariff/discount quoted by the agent is in fact what you're paying.
It's taken me three months of emails and letters to find out that I was given false information to get me to switch, which even for Scottish Power is pretty low.

Couldn't agree with you more. See my thread below

Read your post Chrissie and strangely I was also quoted the same gas and electric prices as you, but my discounts were totally different.
Now I'm being quoted a single tiered rate for gas and another for electricity with a daily standing charge for each.
Seems there's at least one rogue telesales agent with SP so I'm trying my luck with another supplier.Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0 -
Just been door stepped by a bloke with a Scottish Power I.D. He told me they were the supplier to some third party resellers and that they had received loads of complaints about costs going up. He was going around on behalf of SP to save us money by taking the business direct! He asked to see my bills so he could see how much I was being charged (ripped off).
I told him I though we were already with SP but he said we wern't we were with Southern Electric. As it goes he was correct but how would he know that? I have looked on the web and SP and SE don't seem connected in anyway so I am a bit puzzled. Was it just a lucky guess on his part or would he be able to access this kind of info?
Anyway, I thought it was a scam of some sort so refused and shut the door.0 -

...I told him I though we were already with SP but he said we wern't we were with Southern Electric. As it goes he was correct but how would he know that? ...
He would know you are not already with SP since SP are employing him. No point wasting his time speaking to existing customers.
He wouldn't know who you were with, but probably took a flyer based on your historical supplier for the region - most customers either then agree or argue and state who their supplier really is, either way the salesman then knows
Next time, it'll be on record."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
