Thanks - they seem harder to come by nowadays! Still, every little bit helps, so I am very grateful for them when they happen!

The missing cheque has now been replaced, collected, and paid in to my bank account, where it will clear on Thursday :T

I've also received my gas and electricity bills online and we are in credit :D E.on are very good at giving comparisons between usage this quarter and the same period last year, and for both gas and electric we have reduced our average daily consumption quite considerably :T

There is not enough credit to be worth reclaiming, so it will simply carry on until next quarter, but at least they won't be putting the monthly payment up, so I am happy with that,

Glad money things are on a more even keel Hypno. had my fingers crossed that your cheque would materialize. I think you've now paid all that's due for China, or is there another instalment to come? You certainly got it all together in double quick time! :j

Is your daughter saving for spending money? Hope she gets a summer job soon. Mine has just got a rather grotty one compared to the well paid wonders she's had in previous years but seems to be the only one of her friends who have bothered. I think they felt it's sooo difficult this year that it hasn't been worth looking too hard.

Well done on collecting the other cheque and with reducing your energy consumption. I was beginning to worry that your students' college might be in financial difficulties with their "cheque is in the post" assertion.

Hi Verbatim - China is fully paid for, including the cost of the entry visa, so just spending money and odds and ends to buy - DD is saving up for spending money, and has saved some of her birthday money for it too, so I shouldn't need to put any more towards it.

DD gave out loads of letters yesterday - at least she is making the effort to try and get a job...if one is not forthcoming, it won't be for the lack of trying. She does have a paper round and does odds and ends of babysitting though, so she has a little money coming in anyway.

The English school even use the same bank branch as I do, so at least I don't have to wait the requisite 5 working days for a cheque to clear - although why it still takes 48 hours in this day of faster payments beats me - I mean, I sent £195 from Barclays to Halifax this morning that was cleared in my Halifax account instantly, yet I pay in a cheque from one account at my branch into another account at the same branch, and it takes 2 days

I am quite surprised that our energy consumption reduced so much - we have still had 5 of us in the house most of the time......we are obviously just getting into good habits that are staying with us. Either that, or else I am not boiling the kettle so much.......and I know THAT is not the case!!

I have the munchies, but I want a NSD......I have 2p in my purse, so would have to go to the bank to get cash out to buy munchie stuff......so I don't really want to do that.

I have my emergency box of shreddies in the cupboard at work.....might be a case of a late breakfast today :o

I hope DD gets something soon. Well done to her for trying. :D

By some miracle I still seem to have a bit of my £20 left... £2.41 to be precise. :j :rotfl: It was more yesterday but baking equipment is 25% off in MrS so I replaced one of my bits that is on its last legs (ermmm and also bought woopsied fruit pancakes for 20p :o).

Well done for the reduced consumption on utilities :j

I just had my E-on bill, plus cars in being serviced at this very moment and given the phone calls and work needing doing I'm expecting one hell of a bill

Also realised my tax is then due plus some professional fees for work. Doubt much will be going into savings pot after pay day on the 1st of next month.

Have had lovely if very wet day at seaside, lunch

Arghhh garage just phoned off to collect and learn what the bill is :eek::eek:
Looking for the perfect home and saving to make becoming a MFW easier
