duchy, I have never been there myself, so when I know where I am going I will let you know!
shelley, you are always on holiday - you must have more annual leave than the rest of us put together!! Enjoy, wherever you go!
Off to scratch and bank - then working at the boss's house today. Have a good one, everyone!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
A welcome £1 on one of the scratches. And my matched betting profit has hit my bank account - I have tried to get into egg to put it in the barclayloan pot, but egg isn't working  so will have to try later.
I will also do my number crunching when I get home to take into account the new mortgage payment........:DSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Morning
No swimming this morning - DD wants car to go and see her Grandma so she is dropping me at work and then I will get a lift to the pool later and go before i start teaching - the perils of having one car between three drivers!!!
Sister is making a flying visit back from USA at weekend - her FiL died yesterday so they are all coming home for funeral - kids only start back at school yesterday as well.
Well done on the repayment mortgage - have to admit we have only ever had repayment mortgages.
have a good day0 -
The danger is, KC that I have had 6 years without paying anything off the capital, and as the mortgage is fairly big (£175k), every year that goes by without any reasonable amount being paid off, means that we will have to catch up big time later on.
The barclayloan, whilst being on a crap rate, is at least of finite life, and I won't suddenly wake up one morning thinking shiite how on earth am I going to catch up!
So.........to ensure my mortgage runs no longer than the initial term we took it out over, I need to pay another £450 a month (ish, yet to work exact figures) from now on. Any overpayment on top of that will simply bring the term down bit by bit. And because the Egg payment was almost £200 a month, and my payrise is almost £300 a month, I can start making the repayments to the mortgage without it actually seeming as though I am having to find any "extra" money, if that makes sense.
I am still aiming to throw any additional MSE made money at the barclayloan to get rid of that, so it will still be gone sooner than the contractual term of the loan, don't worry!!
I suppose I am just very aware that £175k of debt has got to be repaid sometime, and the longer we leave it, the harder it will become!
Okay, that makes sense. I hadn't thought about finiteness/unendingness, I was just fixating on the interest rate :rotfl:
And you're at your boss's today? Enjoy!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Yes, didn't take long for the Hypno curse to work its' magic :rolleyes:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0
