As for "why do we stop" it is because once you have done all the easy offers, it becomes more time consuming and fiddly to do some of the other offers which puts people off getting back into it. It is like anything really - you do the easy ones first then have to decide whether the time/effort reward is worth doing the later ones.
And the answer is "yes it is worth doing" but it is a case of getting your head together to do them and having enough of a ready float available to do them because most of the later ones are SNR so you need a bigger float in betfair.....and of course, by then we have already allocated the money for something else so never have the big float available to get back into it!
and that is exactly my problem0 -
spud it is easy to understand once you have the basics ...have you read the thread ? if so what bit dont you get? see if maybe i or someone else can help

yeah i get that ...it's like learning a whole new language ...i had to break it down completely bit by bit ...
best way i can describe it ...
it is making money for little effort ..
for eg..you place a bet at one bookies (say coral) for arsnal to win ...
then you place a bet at another bookies (betfair is the best for this) for arsnal not to win ..now you place that bet for arsnal not to win ...not for arsnal to loose so that a draw is covered
then they play and arsnal looses your money is in betfair
but coral give you a free 25 pound bet for your trouble ..
so you do the same again
you bet for arsnal to win in coral
you bet for arsnal not to win in betfair ..
arsnal loose again all your money is in betfair now including the free money ..
thatis a very very basic idea ...other things happen like quidco give you money to sign up for coral and betfair and betfair also gives you a free bet etc and sometimes you have what is known as snr's etc ...but that is a very very basic explanation of mbing...it is a way of extracting free money from a bookie0 -
Glad you are more your old slef Hypno.
Had a day out yesterday then did a final blitz of house today before going back to work tomorrow. Always a mixed feeling after big hols - half of me wants to go back, but the other half wants to stay home and do cooking, baking and craft things now I've finally got it de-cluttered and tidy over the hols. I'm sure novelty would ware off though
Think my problem with the matched betting - a little voice at the back of my head keeps asking me 'why are the bookies prepared to do it if its such a sure fire betting system' and 'the only winners are usually the bookies' which is a line I often heard my dad quote over someone we knew who had the odd flutter. But the way elentan has just explained it makes it make a bit more sense. If it works for you - go for it.
Just had to smile Hypno - was that 'really' you telling someone - (sos can't remember who it was) - not to do squares on holiday but wait till they got home - hope you remember that bit of advise next time you go away - seem to remember you doing a fair bit of debt busting stuff whilst away...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:January spends - £587.580 -
I too am scared of matched betting! I don't get it at all. I've printed off the guide to read through at work, need to read through about four more times before I'll even start to get it I think. I started reading Donglemouse's diary as well, and got a headache lol... I get how you can get the free money out, what I don't get is how you keep on getting free money, surely the free bets run out eventually?! I will give it a go though when I do understand it and have a bit of a float!
I may have some property !!!!!! for you shortly - the house opposite me! Its beautiful - however have checked and isn't on rightmove yet (not even sure they'll sell it, but I do know that the occupant has passed on (not surprised, last time I saw him he looked at deaths door), and his son is deciding what to do with it!0 -
milann - the bookie giving you the free bet doesn't know that you are matching it with another bookie. The reason they give you a free bet is as a one off as a new customer to encourage you to part with your lovely money......which they want you to put on a horse in the 3.30 and lose it, and then they want you to put on some more.......
Whereas the reality is that you, as a MSE'er, will get your free bet, match it, and withdraw it, and then move on to the next bookie to take advantage of another free offer elsewhere.....only returning to the original bookie if they send you an email saying "we haven't seen you for so long, please come back and here is a free £5 to entice you".......Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Evening - can;t get my head round MB either - sitting here trying not to fall asleep so won;t be on here long!.
Made Red Tomato and Apple Chutney this morning, done a 10ft tall pile of ironing this afternoon and then a scrummy dinner that cost about £3 for the four of us so well pleased with that.
Did Goats Cheese on Toast round, with new potatoes, wilted spinach and homemade red onion marmalade................. family thought it was scrummy anyway
Have a good evening0 -
