  • I have been lurking for a little and I'm catching up with your story (better than the TV soaps, you know!) Anyway, at risk of sounding like a crazy person, this is my strategy with a savings account which is instant access but needs to be out of temptation's reach.

I have an instant access branch savings account with a building society paying a reasonable rate of interest. I pay into it once a month with a direct debit. I can vary this amount using on line banking and the transfer date is just before I get paid. The nearest building society branch to me is 30 miles away in a town I wouldn't normally have reason to visit and is a pain to get to from home or work. So I really do only access the money if it is an emergency because it is such a hassle to go there. A bit strange, but works for me!

And thanks for taking the time to write the diaries. They are helping a lot of people.

Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

DT - the words "customer satisfaction" are a bit of an oxymoron as far as Egg are concerned, and no, suprisingingly, I've not had that survey to do

benben, with my "new" way of working, the amount now needed to clear barclayloan is £9069.23.

chocforever - all crazy people welcome! I need an account that I can do lots of little instant deposit amounts as and when I get all my odds and ends of mystery shopping, scratchcard etc money. I find that if I pay it straight off the debt, it keeps me more motivated to do the next 10p moneymaking effort!

    Morning everybody.

Hi Hypno, thanks for your advice on dooyoo the other day. I have read about 20 reviews, mainly guides reviews. They are so good though. I think mine will be rubbish. I suppose I should just take the plunge and give it a try.

    Hi Hypno

I think you doing exactly the right thing with the Barclays offset. By putting the overpayments in a dedicated pot you are mentally paying it off and it would be much harder for you to touch the pot.

Re: ING - I think they are doing a special offer where any money you put in a specific account (websaver) you get a higher rate for 6 months. I think it is specific for existing customers.

I've just posted a massive list of things to do on the daily DFW thread - better get on with it!

Right, it is 10.30 and I need to start thinking about doing something!

DD has an interview for a saturday job at 12......I really really hope she gets it - she has sent off loads of applications, but because she is only 15 and there is a lot of competition for part time work at the moment, she has found it very tough.

DS and I have free tickets (courtesy of my colleagues who can't use their season tickets today) for the football, so we will be having a free afternoon out. Lets hope Norwich can get their act together.......I have been a life long supporter, but boy can it be frustrating!!

I need to do a minimum cost but maximum stuff grocery shop - so have made a list and will try and do that on the way home from the football.

The student has gone to London for the day - left at 7am and will be back at 8pm, so he is sorted for now.

I have been sitting in the newly clean and tidy conservatory - I should be out doing something in the garden, but I need more weedkiller and industrial strength bin bags!!

i sprayed the weeds yesterday with 90% bleach 10%water

anything you can call a weed is curling up including bind weed!!!
grass so far hasn't showed any results,,,will see what happens in a few days,,,

    do not
spray anywhere you want to plant in the near future,,,however you can spray individual weeds say in the lawn carefully
if you accidentally spray a plant you like wash off straight away with loads of water

Right, I have bleached the first area of weeds.........I will let you know how they react! If nothing else, I may have slightly paler green weeds than I have at the moment!!

Think troublemaker comes up on my barclaycard record too:rotfl: I think putting it in a pot and doing the snowballer makes perfect sense. As you say who wants to put the debt figure up. I certainly wouldn't.
Good luck at the footie hope you get a win, say hi to Delia if she's about.:j
