to brakes, clutches, cv joints, exhausts etc not ware on other makes of car? These parts are not made by the manufacturers

you are correct, but the ware can often vary on different makes and models.

I could be dreadfully petty and say that the manufacturers do make them - via other companies - and for these 'genuine' parts, you will pay a hell of a lot more. Alot of good quality pattern parts out there - and also alot rubbish inferior pattern parts out there too. You get what you pay for.

Seems that alot of people are choosing to repair their cars at the moment rather than purchasing new or newer ones. You have to weigh up the costs of repair versus deposit/cost of a new car. Plus individual choice too.

they are all consumable items any motorist should be expecting to replace sooner or later. driving style can also really affect the longevity of these parts. fiancee laughs when i tell her to stop riding the clutch in her 206 and when she stand on the brakes every time she needs to stop rather than anticipating things on the road and dont mention the short 5 minute journeys that have killed her exhaust and cat off at only 38k miles. then when she has to replace these parts thats when the moaning all starts about how much it all costs. but she never listens. i'll get through to her eventually i hope,or else she will never be driving any of my cars.
