Waitrose Partnership Cards

Hello Everybody!
I have been thinking whether I should get a Waitrose partnership card. My local store has a special till for partnership cards only, which would mean less time-wasting in a queue. Plus of course these cards allow you to accrue points. I don't like credit cards though, so I would like to consult with you before I make a decision. Does anyone here use the Waitrose partnership card, and how are you finding it?
Thanks!!!

I've had one for some-time. I got to access to the self-scan in Waitrose - which is a lot quicker and less hassle than standing a a queue!.
The on-line system is OK as is getting £15 every couple of months (to spend in Waitrose)
Its not the most competitive card however, but it does have a 6 month 0% offer - I paid the minimum for the first 6 months via Direct Debit and on the 7th month paid the balance off in full. You can change the DD online to minimum amount or full amount which is handy.
I've had no problems with the customer service, but to be truthful I can't remember the last time I had to ring them up!
I don't think that you will find any problems - assuming you are prepared to pay it off in full every month (after month 6 at least)
Hope this helps!0 -
I have one. You can use the self scan at waitrose with ANY credit card, but they do not advertise that! So if that's the only reason to get one, it's a bit of a waste.
How much do you think you will spend per month on the card?
I pay the full amount by direct debit from my bank account each month, so I know I will never get charged interest, but every few months I get vouchers through the postquite nice really.

Some stores are back to Partnership cards / Account cards only for the selfscan, I think it is easier to monitor. These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -
Thank you all for your comments.
I would pay the card in full every month so I am not particularly concerned about the competitiveness of the rate; I do admit though that my only reason for considering the card is that I want to use the quick scan/check facility in store.
If Kavanne is right and any card would do, then as far as I'm concerned.... it's bye bye to partnership card application :j0 -
after hippey's response i;d check with your local storeKavanne

Forgot to add.....
You only need a Partnership card to register and use selfscan, however you can pay with any card. These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

Fair point hippey. Now that you mention it, I do remember that when I went to sign in for the self-scan thingie (they made me sign a contract) the contract did say that this facility was open to Waitrose partnership cardholders only. I thought it was weird since I am not a cardholder and successfuly registered for the selfscan providing them with my barclays debit card only. At not point did they even mention the partnership card then. I now suspect the self-check may work ina similar way: the Waitrose literature says that you need a partnership card but in reality they don't mind how you pay as long as you pay and shop with them. Tell you what: next week I'm going to go back there and use the self-check till with my usual barclays debit card. If it works, I will report!0

Me too!!! I got refused for one just now.
To make things worse, it was an instant refusal... Normally when I'm refused they at least humour me for a week then send me a rejection in the post
Oh well, time for a big bowl of ice-cream!You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0
