BT call anytime plan - cost?

Thinking of taking the plunge and contracting into BT free calls and was going to do evenings and weekend calling plan, but having attempted to work out the maths, it looks to me as if the call anytime plan wouuld amount to approximately £49 per quarter (so long as I don't call mobiles or abroad), and am now thinking of going for that as it would be nice to make daytime phone calls without worrying about the expense. Can anyone confirm that my maths is correct - I got rid of their internet help line and now can't get it back.

Just got my latest phone bill and it seems the line rental has gone up to £18.45 per month for the anytime plan. I am not sure if this is correct or not, I am still trying to work out my new bill and struggling at the moment. All I know is it is certainly more than I expected this month. I know they have changed their billing system but my monthly bill this month is £31.37 (including £0.29 call costs), last month it was £17.10 (including call costs of £0.79. I pay monthly by direct debit. Has anyone else had a much bigger bill this month and have you managed to work out if it is correct?0

That will be £12.50 line rental (paper billing) and £5.95 anytime calls (No rolling contract) = £18.45

Thanks OldGreyFox. I am on a rolling contract as my 12 months is up very soon, so it would appear that I have been overcharged. Just need to talk to someone now who knows what they are talking about at BT.0

It seems to be a common problem, see later stages of this thread.

Hi fireengine,
If you signed up to the Unlimited Anytime Plan now the cost would be £ 52.35 per quarter (£17.45 per month), this is worked out as below:
£ 12.50 line rental per month +
£ 4.95 calling plan
Also, if you're on direct debit and paperfree billing you get a discount of £ £1.25.
shopndrop, I'll check that if you want, just PM me your details.
Cheers,
Stephanie

Its not worth it unless you make more then 23 peak calls a week,as you can use www.18185.co.uk to make peak 01/02/03 calls at just 5p a call and you can get cheaper mobile calls from them then BT,s 7p a minute.
Also you dont pay if you dont use it,and their is no rolling contract.;)0 -

Economics can be different if you call 0845/0870 numbers a lot as they will be included within BT's plans.0 -

You could use www.saynoto0870.com to find alternative number,s where possible,or make inclusive 0845/0870 calls as far as possible at evenings and weekends.0 -

Agreed, however https://www.saynoto0870.com does not always have a number or they don't work properly (such as to Sky), but still worth a go.0
