I've used canvas, eurocamp, eurosites in the past but the company that most impressed me was Matthews holidays. If you can go outside school holidays there ae some great deals...first week of September for example is about £2990

Thanks everyone - great info coming in:j
Will check out all companies mentioned for the dates I'm looking at (which are unfortunately in July - cannot avoid school hols as three kids!)
I suppose next question to ask is how can I get best price - any discount etc. Is it cheaper to arrange own ferry or take their option?
All advice most appreciated0 -
Don't know your budget but take a look at Bolero. You can travel with them by coach or just book your accomodation (tent caravan or static caravan) and Fly/Drive or self drive. No connection just very happy customers. Last year for us family of four it was £1407 for the fortnight inc. linen hire, also we took our bikes in their purpose built trailer.
They travel to union lido which has been European campsite of the year numerous times.
You can book direct with the site or via Bolero for the campsites own caravans and appartments.
Here you have the private beach two pool complexs, numerous restarants and take aways plus Venice is 40ish minutes away by quick bus and ferry ride. You can also book coach trips for the information centre, we went to Verona and Sermioni on Lake Garda.
Here is a review I found on caio with more detail.I have a cunning plan!
Proud to be dealing with my debts.0 -

Hi
Try https://www.yellohvillage.com - they do tents, cottages and mobile homes on sites throughout France. Some of their holiday parks are featured by Keycamp, Eurocamp etc, but we've found the prices are cheaper if you book direct then arrange your own channel crossing. We stayed on a yelloh holiday park in Languedoc last year. We went with Keycamp, but got flooded out of our tent due to extreme weather conditions! We moved into one of Yelloh's own cottages - very good price and excellent quality.
Happy Holidays!

Always had excellent service and prices from https://www.venueholidays.co.uk holidayed with them for 15 years. Give them a ring and they can tailor your holiday with variable length of stays, different sites.0

Last summer we went to Northern Spain - the best kept secret, especially with young children. It's just like Cornwall with dozens of small cove with rock pools. There is always a shady place although the temperature is about the same as out south coast.
We took all our camping stuff (what a squeeze) as we left it so late but when we got there we discovered that many of the camp sites have 2 bed cottages/chaletts for hire. Just remember the main Spanish holidays are the first 2 weeks in August so very busy then.
We went at this time without booking (I told you it was very last minute) and easily found 3 different sites, all with a pool. Two in the Picos mountains (played in the snow!) and one by the coast. Picos mountain are about 40-50 minute drive from the coast and about 50 minutes from the ferry. Beaches are all along the coast, from 15 minutes off the ferry onwards, so as far as you like.
The Bilbao ferry has whale watching survey with a guide both ways - fantastic!!
Good luck!Love living in a village in the country side0
