taken battery out,l dont get any lights coming on,now al i ahve is a light flashing on the button that has a plus sign but laptop does not power up
Help!!0 -
Is the light on the power supply on?
Take everything out that you can, battery, Cd, Floppy, PCMCIA cards, reseat the ram and modem/wireless card (under a screwed cover on the bottom). Then power up.
Reseat the hard disk (screwed pullout on the right hand side)
If that doesn't work. Try putting firm pressure with the palm of your hand all over the keyboard.
If that doesn't work, power up without the hard disk in, still no go, probably time to buy a new one..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Will a novice be able to do these suggestions,i am oner to be honest but got very basic pc knowledge
thanks0 -
I would advise not taking things apart on a laptop as suggested unless you know
what you are up against as they can be as fiddly as hell there maybe some
repair manuals on the net that would help you out though.
Just found this http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latc600/sm_html/index.htm0 -
C600's are fairly straighforward, if you can use a screwdriver you should be ok.. just don't go walking up and down the carpet with the Ram in your hand.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Phoned Dell, they talked me through the removal of certain parts, easy!
I am advised the motherboard is knackered, told its a costly affair, can i get one on ebay maybe and do the work myself .
Bit gutted as i only got it off ebay 10 months ago.
A lesson to be learnt i think!!!0 -
Hi,
How did they prove it was the motherboard & not the charger without sending you another charger?
