Help! Really annoyed with Vodafone contract

Hi there
Could someone please advise me on what to do here.

I have had a Vodafone contract for years, never renegotiated or changed my handset. Anyway, my phone broke so I decided I was going to go PAYG. However, when I rang to cancel in January, they persuaded me to change my contract. He told me: 75 anytime minutes for £10 (inc VAT), some texts and a new phone (which personally i cannot stand) - Ericcson. This was, as I say in January. I got the same deal for both myself and my husband.

I opened a bill this morning and looked at it (stupid of me I know - should have done it months ago). However, on reading the bill they are charging me :
£17.02 for the 75 Anytime - with stop the clock
on one phone they have given me a £8.51 discount for recurring charges (whatever that means - but only on one phone)

They are charging me £2.55 for a half price extras pack (what exactly is this)

and it now states that the minimum term is 18 months not 12 which was what I was lead to believe.

What can I do? Have they changed the terms of the contract? Have I left it too late now to do anything about it.

I assumed that what they told me on the phone would be what I got :(

Thank you
Angela

  • Write and complain - don't bother phoning,in your letter state exactly what was offered at the time - they do respond and it can be fixed,do it now though don't delay after you receive the bill. Write to the PO Box 549 in Banbury.

    Keep us updated.

Remember though to keep Stop the Clock you will have to accept the 18 month deal.

I agree that writing is the best idea, however I wrote recently to cancel my contract and go Pay as you Talk, but when I rang them some days later they said they havent received the letter. Spoke to various people in the call centre, and eventually got put through to disconnections, who offered me what I think is a good contract. However, having read your message, I will be checking my bills to make sure that I have got what they promised, and not charging me more than they said.
I have not taken a great deal of notice of my bills in the past, (bad form I know on this site) but recently I checked, and they had been charging me for my texts, when they were supposed to be included in a "bundle". One of operators in the call centre said that she would make sure that I am refunded. Watch this space!
