Walkman phone - calls interrupt music?

Hi folks,

I need to get a new phone as my old one's on the fritz. It's a Sony Ericsson and has always been fine so I figure I'll stick with them.

Usually I carry about the phone as well as a small mp3 player for music, but I suppose a Walkman phone might be able to combine the two. My issue is I don't want to be walking along somewhere with music on and suddenly have the phone ringing in my ears.

Is there a way using a Walkman phone to change the settings so that music (not radio, mp3s) is not interrupted by phone calls or texts or anything else? Ideally I could do with any calls going straight to voicemail when I have music on. If it won't allow that I most likely won't bother with this phone.

Thanks,
cid.

SE walkman phone's have an option to start the mobile in Walkman mode which switches off calling features so you won't be able to make or receive any calls or text messages.

Alternative could you not set the phone on divert when listening to music?

Ahhhh thanks, that sounds like it might work then.

Can you set calls to divert to voicemail rather than another number? I never knew that. I still would rather have a 'Walkman mode' than have to keep switching the phone on and off divert, especially as I'd inevitably forget to switch the phone back on afterwards.

I actually quite like the option of hearing my text message/ringing tone in my ears. Have quite often had my main Mp3 player plugged into my ears and not heard my phone inside my bag. I get home and hubby says "did you get my message, asking you to bring in some milk on the way back", oops!

It's handy being able to take a call through the mic as well, so you look like you're walking along and talking to yourself!

Your best bet would be the "music only" mode I think.

Sony Ericsson Walkman phones are definitely the best phones with music player feature. Don't worry about your phone calls, you can always set your cellphone into silent(vibrate) mode.
