Oh yes, she's really getting to me.
I just looked at her and said......"when did you get that done".......expecting it to be one of those clip on things.
I was in total shock......she looks like a bull or a pig ready to be led round by the snout.

Have you not asked her how she cleans the snot off it?

Thanks for you help RM, last year I dont think I did it right hence why my first ever batch lasted two months. However saying that we only wasted about a 1/4 of a branstons jar. How can I sterilise them? Can I just put them in some cheap Milton? We will be using kiln jars this year... will they be ok? Last year I made rasberry jam... this year I am trying rasberry and apple jam and then marmalade :D

Just waiting for my bread to beep just now... smells amazing :T
I always put the jars and lids through the dishwasher (or a bowl of hot, soapy water), then put them on a baking tray into a hot oven while the jam is boiling. My grandmother always used kilner jars but put the rubber bands into a bowl of boiling kettle water rather than the oven. Not sure how she seals them though. I know that there is a type of wax that you can use, Lakeland?
Oh and make sure there are no smells on the lid from the previous contents.

Ewww I have webbles (sp?) in my bread flour, typical the flour that I didnt have sealed in a box  That will teach me! I need to use some of the supplies and have a list of things to make tommorow. Anyway, does anyone know how long you can keep homemade jam for? I dont want to make jam if it only last a few months. I guess you can give it a year or so? Is that right?

    Are your weebles wobbling? :D
