As you'll know we were down for 2 hours tonight, for much of it the main site as well as the forum.

Quite simply there was a power cut at the server house - and they were having to restart all servers on the generators one at a time.

Sorry for the inconvenience

(trust me I've been gowling and teeth gnashing)

    Hi folks,

Apologies for the failure of the MSE site this evening. We're still investigating what happened but initial indications are a serious internal power failure at our hosting company.

Please note, we're still working on restoring some servers so there's a chance we may need to take the Forum down again this evening.

If you spot anything out of the ordinary or experience technical difficulties followiing the crash, please post the details here.

    Thanks for bearing with us.
