When should I book my flights?

I'm going to Lanzarote around the end of August and was wondering if anyone had any tips on when was the best time to book flights. The prices seem to go up and down and last time I booked them a couple of months before leaving - they plummted to almost half what I paid only a week before the departure date.

So, does anyone have information on how the airlines price their flights and if I should risk leaving it to a week before my flight??

Depends on how bad you want this as you must know others out there will be thinking the same thing as you are. If you want to make sure you go...then try to find a good price you are happy with and book.

When we went to Lanzarote in 2007, we booked really early and they were so much cheaper than right before we went. (We paid £180 and they went upto £300! That was for about the whole 4 weeks before we went)

We booked 10 months in advance last year (Lanza again) and I think they went down by about £40 each, so not too bad.

Just booked a holiday for my Aunty the other day (Lanza again lol), they are going in October and their flights were £198 each (with Monarch). They would probably come down a little, but she just wanted it booked and sorted so they didn't have to worry about it.

So jealous, I love Lanzarote, but not going away this year.
