I think it must (again) depend on which store-how annoying for you!

I have just used my last 2 Sainsbury vouchers in Tesco, saving £24.00, one was for next week..No problem at all.

My Mum up in Yorkshire asked what their policy was and cashier was unsure. She had very easily used a lot of vouchers when she was here in London with me..

She was referred to supervisor and was told she could use one at a time only; supervisor signed off each voucher so as to save time with cashier queries about them..

I can use any in Tesco London, even if they are out of date. If you cannot use yours, please post them to me ;)

Perhaps you should check with a supervisor before doing your shop? Worth a try??!! ;D

Mum sent me an out of date voucher-one of the 'spend xx save xx vouchers'. I have just used it tonight, saving another £12, date was 15th of jan. How pleased was I?

When they say they want to check them, I think it is to make sure you have bought the Asda products that you are using Asda coupons for.

I spoke to head office some time ago about their internet coupon policy (as I was fed up of conflicting advice in store) and John Barnes called me back.

They will accept internet printed coupons but not photocopies, it is up to individual stores how much they will accept them for (minimum of 10%).

I asked them to send me a letter confimring this, which they did and I now keep it in my coupon wallet, I've had to show it a few times, but not had any real problems since.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

I bought the sainsbury mag specifically for the vouchers. Tesco would not take them. Tried two different checkouts too. They made a right fuss.

Also tried doing two different shops in the same Tesco on the same day using different vouchers. Again got caught and they refused to allow a different set of vouchers to be used for the second shop. They make you feel like a criminal!!!! Didnt think I was doing anything illegal?

What was the reason given for not accepting the non magazine vouchers? Most Tescos will not take any Sainsburys vouchers, except the total spend ones although if you get the right checkout person they will go through. But if your other vouchers were manufacturers ones I dont see why they stopped you.

  • The sainsburys vouchers scan fine in self service checkouts in Tesco if you have them. apparantly after you have scanned more* than 4 vouchers through on the self service checkouts it calls for assistance now which never used to happen.

Good, just tell the operator "Can you help? The silly thing won't take my vouchers" - worked for me on £6 of shopping for £2 today. I'd rather use the tills where they just take em without a problem.

My local Tesco's self-scan tills let you put in more than 4 vouchers ;) and hope they stay that way! For me, the problem is trying to look cool while shoving 'em in ;)

Also, if the voucher is very small or lightweight, the sensor can't always tell that it's been inserted, so you have to blow in the hole that you put the vouchers in (a nice Tesco lady demonstrated this to me the other day - very technical!). Phew, not easy looking calm and collected with all that kerfuffle! ;)
  • Just had a delivery from sainsburys with a problem. Rang them and got re-embursed for the item and also asked to have the delivery charge waived as "I now have to go into the store to get one".
No problem they said, we'll send you an e-voucher.

Always ask, if you don't ask, you don't get!
