What you are doing is called tethering. Not sure it's allowed under Orange's T&C's. You'll have to check. I'm not sure Orange's unlimited data is unlimted either. I've heard it has a fair usage policy. Best go to Orange's website to be sure or read the T&C's of your contract.

And why would it not be allowed if it is a function of the phone they sold me?

Have anyone tried this before? Will it work with an N83 phone?

    Taken from the Orange T&C's..

    "Mobile Internet Bundles

Mobile internet browsing is subject to the monthly limit set out in your service plan terms and conditions. Mobile internet browsing is not to be used for other activities, such as using your handset as a modem, non-Orange internet baased streaming services, voice or video over the internet, instant messaging, peer to peer file sharing, non-Orange internet based video. Should you exceed your monthly limit or if such use is detected, notice may be given and Network protection controls may be applied to all services which Orange does not believe constitutes mobile browsing. This may result in, at Orange's discretion, your inability to purchase the Offer, a reduced speed of transmission, suspension of data browsing services and/or suspension of your account, Any unused part of the bundle will not rollover to the next month. Mobile internet browsing is for use within the UK only. Any use outside the UK will be charged at the relevant international rates. Mobile internet browsing does not include event charges such as ringtones, or games (transport costs for these events are included). Usage within the Offer will not contribute to any rewards or other promotions offered by Orange from time to time. Downlaoding or applying for the offer may result in the suspension or deletion of any previous data bundle (or data tariff) on your Device."

Yes it will work with that phone, but as mentioned above its against terms and conditions, but TBH im still going to use mine as i have unlimited bundle and its up to them to prove im using it in that way as i go on my phone alot using 3g accessing normal webpages like this one (and not wap) and nothing has every been mentioned.

Just download Nokia OVI suite and you can set it up through that

Don't forget that using it through a laptop will download a lot more than it would just on the phone.. pictures and lots of text could soon eat away at the 500mb fair usage. :)

easy way to prove is by what browser you are using to surf the net.

the N95 won't have a full browser, and if you're using opera mini, it comes up at that, which is different to, say, opera, firefox, IE, or safari.

They cant tell what your using. The phone still connect to the net like your using your phone to browse.
just keep an eye on your usage, using your laptop uses alot more data than say opera mini where the pages are compressed before being sent to you.
