You should appeal the housing associations decison to place you in band D and include a letter from your GP, if he'll give you one, saying your health has been affected more since your original application by your living conditions. No way should you be in band D if you use a chair and do not already live in an adapted property or without stairs if thats what you need. In fact if it was me I would appeal and get my MP invloved, band D is usually for people who are in satisfactory accomodation but want to move. Moving you up a few bands may get you moved quicker but could still be a a wait. Are you down for an adapted property? If not put that application in to, it usually involves the local council so look on their web site.
Not likely SS will be able to house you as a family. They usually provide supported flats for those with disabilities but they are usually single occupancy. I dont know any in the LA I work in that do homes for families.

    good evening _shel:o
im not down for an adapted property just a normal one .my gp wrote on the letter that i have a disabled badge and what my problems were but when the decision letter came back it said band D as we werent homeless or overcrowded.
im willing to appeal so maybe i should phone them to ask how the process can be started for appeal.my gp will back me up im sure.
i have to travel to kings college hospital in london tomorrow morning for an appointment so i could even ask my consultant if he could write a letter.

    Hi

I would suggest referring yourself to an Occupational Therapist (Social Services based). They will start by assessing you at home to see what equipment or adaptations can assist you to manage better in your current property. If these are not feasible/suitable they should be able to write a housing report detailing exactly what facilities and type of accommodation you require to live more independently. In my LA this holds more clout than a standard GP letter I believe but things vary from area to area so I would start by phoning Social Services for further info.
