M - as my overdraft is interest free (yay for student bank accounts!) it's nearly permanently maxed out, everything having been 'dumped' in a savings account0

Hovers just above -£2000
Oh! Forgot I also have a Euro account which is a staggering €10.80 in credit! :j0 -
I am totally agog that 11% of people have over 5k in their current account. (or any account to be honest)
A lifetime of living hand to mouth....

I'm amazed that 443 people (at the time of writing) have over £10k in their current account. If I had that much spare I wouldn't be leaving it in a current account which usually have terrible rates, I'd be sweeping it over into a higher interest account.
It's a funny poll though really, because for most people it will vary wildly depending on what day of the month it is. I've only got just under £500 in mine, but if you'd asked me ten days ago it would have been £2500ish and in two weeks time, just before pay day, I might be dipping into my overdraft.

I voted for F. The most I ever have in there is £1800- enough for casual spending and monthly "rent" (live with parents) for 3 months (Which is how often I'm paid). On payday the rest goes straight into my saving accounts - which then go into my ISA every April.0

M just now as both my pensions have been paid in this week but hovering around lower K for the rest of the month after bills/other essentials are paid. £5/10K in a current account? Some folks have more money than sense...0

£2500 overdraft as I have a £3k o/d limit. No worries though, its all tucked in safely earning interest. :j0

I get £5 a month 'interest' regardless of the account balance, so keep enough money in it to cover bills that I can't put onto the cash back credit card.
The rest goes into high interest or towards paying off mortgage. Any 'emergencies' can go on credit card until I get money back from another account.
Can't afford to use the overdraft with this account. The charges are too high!0 -
I or H
two bank accounts - The Natwest one has £101.50 in credit (It's student account and my rent has just gone out - huge overdraft which is useful if the job goes!).
HSBC: my work account should have £200 in credit in there but the boss paid me late so it should show up tomorrow (I get paid weekly but have to pay my own tax... my hours have been dropped too so I'll be going into overdrafts very soon!)
but I do have an ISA with just over a £1,000 which is for last years tax, and an emergency fund!!
oh, and I've got a savings account with 75p :rotfl:Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later datenow at Uni as a Mature student -update: now has a First Class BA!0 -

doesn't the credit card cost more in fees than the overdraft?
I guess credit cards have interest free if you only 'use' for a few days... so then I guess it is cheaper
I keep dipping into my overdraft on one account but yet have a free overdraft on my student account!
