My mother has just paid short of £300 for car hire for next week. Apparently most Spanish car rental companies have got rid of up to 50% of their fleet.
Checked with the owner. Everything in order with the car.
Yeh. I heard Spanish car hire was getting expensive. I got a quote for about £240 and that was a month ago.0 -

Check the insurance out thoroughly before you drive it. The Guardia Civil are well known for pulling UK registered cars for comprehensive checks, and additionally make sure that the car comes with *everything* that Spanish law dictates.

Do *not* attempt to drive it unless everything is fine and present.

Maybe, maybe not. There seems to be very contradictory things being said and there's plenty of rumours online - my personal feeling (judging by how the Guardia Civil treat foreigners) is that you should obtain one, simply to avoid any complications.
I would recommend getting one for peace of mind - the Spanish fines can be huge, and many websites are stating that Spain considers an EU licence to be a Spanish licence while on the territory of Spain. For that reason, a medical certificate is mandatory under Spanish law and thus you'll need one. Spain is not a country where you mess around with driving documents, that much is certain. From Poland...with love.
