BT internet hub - can I make use of it??

Apologies in advance if this is a very dumb question. I have a box thing that I plug my PC into to get access to internet with BT - I think its called a hub. It came free with BT internet access option 3.

I no longer need this broadband connection as I am not a heavy user and do not do much downloading so and am considering changing to a cheaper option with a different supplier.

So I am wondering if the box is any good to me once I am no longer with BT?? will I need it to get broadband with a different supplier , or is it something I could sell on or recycle.

Thanks fo reading.

remember you will still need a phone line to get broadband unless you decide to go completely wireless using mobile providers.
