Perhaps a way round 'the family' interference (only wanting to help!) is to give each mother something to focus on: Finding coloured tablecloths or suppliers of particular table gifts etc.
When we got married (2nd time for me) we arranged it all, his mum bought his suit, my mum arranged the flowers. But we did do it all very simply and it cost much lss than £2000.
That doesnt always work either.I gave mil2b a job to do and now she thinks she can do everything,it made her worse than before.
I would say just tell them you have it in hand and its a surprise for them"Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -

And to make matters worse in a "it never rains but it pours" kinda way. Paulie has just been told his job is "at risk" Oh joy, redundancy. Triffic. Wedding plans on hold - plan C is how to pay the mortgage :rotfl: Ech! we'll cross that bridge when we come to it!
(I'm still gonna look at dresss-ies
dont cost nothing to window shop
)
Oh, I hope things are ok - I know that feeling, my OH was made redundant 3 months before our wedding, it was an awful worry. Luckily he found a job after 8 weeks, with an understanding boss who honoured his holiday dates.
You can have the money side of things on hold, but you can still keep planning (and trying on dresses!:D)
Hope it doesn't turn out as bad as you think - he still might not be one of the unlucky ones.

Got a fair bit of "stuff" I need to clear out. Was gonna send it down to the charity shop. It's all lovely I mean there's a one piece set of bike leathers in the spare room - Loud colours, never been worn, a too big ball gown which I'm never gonna have the occasion to wear again etc etc LOL you've certainly got me thinking
Have a look at what the bike leathers are going for - are they a "name"? but I would hang onto the ball gown for a little while, might go better in autumn for xmas parties or even next April for May / Graduation balls & proms
