What would you do?

I sold this item on Ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9504010729&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3AAAQ%3AUK%3A1&rd=1

And i promply sent it. Now today i receive this email:

'I have received the extension this morning, but it isnt the colour I need, it is black. Am I okay to send it back?'

The reason this is annoying me is because:

a) They didn't bother to thank me for sending it
b) I clearly stated it was off black in the auction.
c) I am selling them with my boss and she thinks Ebay full of timewasters (we've had our fair share) and i don't need any reason to make her think it more.

I do not state whether i accept returns (but generally the only reason i would is if it was damaged.)

So, this beggers the question, what would you do?

Thanks, Carrie

Id be inclined to email her back and say it says its black, why didn't you think it would be black. Furthermore, it looks as if it only went for 99p anyway. If she wants to return it I would be inclined to let her, but point out that a) you won't refund the postage and b) she'll end up paying for postage to send it back. No come to think of it, I would not let her return it - its ridiculous

having never used EBay ( I agree with your boss) I can only give a commonsense answer. If you have correctly described the item you are selling and have not misled the buyer I would say no to them.

However this will affect your score as they will prob give you neg feedback, if you are not bothered then say no. If you are concerned about feedback, you ahve to consider the price of the item in question. ie all this hassle if youahave made a £5 profit.
  • I know what I would say....... But no would be the other, Item is what they bid on.

I really want to send an email back saying 'sorry what colour were you expecting, pink??' but i know i would def get a neg but not overly as i know that most people would overlook it if the response is worded right. I am worried about the neg but this is too ridiculous to allow. I find that more people now are using Ebay like a shop.

I would refund her the 99 pence and tell her to keep the item - for such a small amount it is not worth risking bad feedback. Remember to ban her from your other auctions - she clearly has the inability to read the descriptions.

I suppose i could always email her saying something like:

'Hi, Sorry you're not happy with your purchase of item: Yaky Pony 22" colour off black. Sure you can return it but as my listing and photo clearly stated the colour i will have to deduct the following:

    Listing fee: 35p
    FVF: 5p
    Paypal fee: 30p

    Leaving: 29p

Also i will not refund the postage and of course this will cost you extra to send back please let me know if you want to go ahead and i will send the money asap.'

But then i think she would still leave a neg.

Refuse a refund and take a neg on it. She may well not neg you as many buyers don't as they are too afraid to get one back. If she does neg you, then neg her back, this is definitely another TSFE (too stupid for ebay) buyer.
