Annoying about the house for DD though Sammy...although she might get more for her money renting?
for the best Sally - bad enough that they are just kids having a baby without tying themselves down with a mortgage and no money.Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Just been laughing at work. Brighthouse have reported an increase of 17% profits. I know people are up in arms about brighthouse, but when i was younger it was the norm to rent a tv cos we couldn't afford to buy one. Credit was non existent to the working classes.
:rotfl: Sammy You have brought back memories.... I remember when I was younger and being sent to knock on neighbours doors for change (£1 coins) to 'feed the tv'. Also the gas keys were actually keys and not plasic cards. I was never allowed the keys untill Mum had put them in them in the meter, then I could have them all. Of course though I didnt want them because the ends were missing :rotfl: Sorry just a bit of reminiscing....
*Ok too slow*

and I'm pretty sure at one point my nanna and grandad had one in the 70s where you put money in it - a bit like a £1 electric meter, but just for the TV.

From Wiki:
"At its peak, Radio Rentals claimed it had more than 2 million customers, over 500 shops and employed 3600 technicians, 2700 skilled installers plus a large ancillary staff"
I worked for Radio Rentals. We rented a DVD player cos I wanted to watch Adam and the Ants on video....Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

this is where the brighthouse thing came from. My son (fag gate) has a tv that you put money in!
He has now got a council flat and he has gone to brighthouse for a cooker. When he rang me to tell me I was like - I could give him the money for a cooker - but then I - thought - no he is a big boy now - he has to make his own mistakes...Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Thats what we had... and it had a 'clock' on the front of the box that would run down. Then each week a man would come and empty the box. Many a time Mum had ran out of money and we couldnt watch telly...0 -
