Anyone had any dealings with IVAL?

  • I made a claim for two damaged lenses. Neither could be repaired so IVAL arranged new replacements from WEX Photographic within 5 days. They kept me informed and delivery was exactly as planned. Could not be happier with their service.

I'm insured with Aviva. I made a claim on saturday regarding my iphone that i took to the Apple genius bar in Birmingham and was told that it couldn't be repaired.

Aviva told me that i would get a call from IVal (08456850105) so that they can diagnose if it can be repaired (fair enough).

I recieved a call yesterday and they arrange for it to be collected today from my place of work and would text me 1 hour before collection so that i can wipe my phone and package it and would try to get here before 4.15pm.

Not looking good at the moment with regards to collecting it!

    I'll keep you updated.

thanks for joining MSE and sharing your good experience of IVAL/Powerplay.

Satisfactory dealings with IVAL must be a magical, almost religious experience given the number of posters who feel moved to register, resurrect an old thread and make their only ever postings telling us how good IVAL are.

Here goes my current experience with PowerPlay Direct.

Spilt by accident a large glass of water over my Apple 17" laptop, and the next day took it to the Apple Store in Thurrock for examination thinking/hoping that it may be a simple fix.

They looked at it and said that it needed a new logic board, screen where water had got into the bottom, Trackpad, keyboard and DVD burner as when tilted water still was coming out of the DVD drive, they advised that it was beyond economical repair, and to call the insurance company.

So called the insurance company the next morning to claim (the aa), they told me that they would need to do an investigation and they had a company "BeValued" who do this for them, next day they came and collected it.

Called PowerPlay this morning to find out what was happening, the told me that it needed just a new logicboard, memory and back-screen panel, completely different to what the guys on the Genius bar told me! When asked about the keyboard where the water mainly entered, they said that the keyboard was fine!

But in speaking with them, they said that they get their logic boards from California and it takes 10 working days, and they would also need a further 5 working days to repair and test.

Strange as Apple have a local stock of these logic boards, and if that's all that really needed replacing they could have it here within 2-3 days, (I just called them to ask, as I'm not going to be fobbed off, and it's good to have all the evidence you need behind you!)

It will be interesting to see what state this machine is returned to me in.

Some of the lovely comments on the phone really filled me with confidence

Q: If repaired, what grantee will I have that the laptop is repaired to the standard before the accident.

A: A repair is a repair, we guarantee our work and test before leaving, but it is a repair.

I really wish I hadn't sent it to them now, I need a confidence boost in PowerPlay Direct lol.

Also when I said to PowerPlay Direct about the report from Apple, their answer was that Apple say these things to get another sale of a new laptop, and really don't know what they are on about.

IVAL contacted my insurance company AVIVA and told them it was not repairable. AVIVA arrange a new replacement phone at the cost of my excess fee and delivered within the 5 day deliver time.

My experience has been good overall.
