Can anyone help with a problem i've got with my N97....Vodafone are useless!.

Brief explanation on problem...............when i first got the phone it displayed the open applications on the standby screen. I used to have facebook open and the phone was "online" with facebook updating in real time. From yesterday the phone shows no applications open and I can't get it to display Facebook......it just says "loading content"

Any ideas anyone?
My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say ;)
Ignore......check!

Yes, and I have called Vodafone too and no-one seems to know what's wrong.

Hi there. I have an N97 and am well impressed with it so far There were some firmware issues prior to july 1st when Nokia released an update. Some of those issues were to do with the active widgets on the home screen. So...lets trouble shoot....have you got the latest firmware forget the number but its dated 15th May I think (diff from release date of course)......if not, do so.

Secondly have you turned off and turned back on, including taking the battery out, putting back in etc etc. thirdly, have you done both soft and hard resets.

There are 40 pages of hints, tips, bugs n fixes on this forum:

Hope that helps, if not, get back to me?

    Hiya,

Just my 2 pennies but Orange have returned all their N97's to Nokia as they were not up to standard & dont know when they will be issuing them.

I know this doesnt help you, but it might give you some leverage with Vodafone

you can't update yet as he firmware is not out for braded phones you will have to wait for them to ok it. but the more you mone to vod the fast they will ok the new firmware.

*#0000#, options and you will able to check if you have the latest firmware.. as far as I know you should be able to update the firmware over the air (as in wifi or through your data bundle), I think the N97 also allows your to preserve your phones data but always best to backup before updating!

Agree with above posters, unlikely the newer firmware is out yet for Voda branded N97's

    Hi MissMotivation

I'm addicted to Facebook - so can understand you wanting to get this working again.

Did you manage to get it fixed or is it still happening?

If it's still happening, markray007 has given some great advice already. Along with his ideas I would also suggest
    • Clear the cache for the internet on your phone by going to > Web > Options > Clear Privacy Data > Cache.
    • Back up anything that you want to keep that is on the phone and then reset it to factory settings by going to > Settings > Phone > Phone Mgmt > Factory Settings > Press Yes > enter the lock code for your phone.
If at this point you are still getting the same problem then your N97 will be faulty and if you have had it for less than 28 days then we can replace it. Once you are beyond 28 days we can send it for repair.

    Cheers
