I just got this card two weeks ago - had internal score of 73 and got declined due to credit record. Appealed and overturned.......
They do external searches......2010 - year of the troll

It obviously depends on several factors inclusive of your internal score with bank
The internal score is ignored if your external score fails.... The internal score primarily helps in the case of appealing because you'd be arguing that you run your account well and so should be given a chance. They know if the internal score is high then their systems judge you as good enough risk and so can override the decline.2010 - year of the troll

Hi, TheEffect
yes ironic we have similar usernames.
I readed in an earlier forum that you wrote about your application for this card?
I just wanted to know how you got on? How was your credit file?
I do not have searches the credit file since beining of april, also have 1 NOC on mine due to disputing a search?(with no baddies on credit report) Is it worth going on with the application? As I was declined nearly a year ago for this card0 -

a NOC means you will always be referred to underwriting. If its just for a search get it taken off! It aint worth it cos you can never get declined / instant decisions with a NOC.
If you don't use HSBC much then it's not worth it as likely you're internal score will be too low. It has to be at least 60 for the CC I am told (50+ for CGC/Overdrafts and 70+ for loans)....2010 - year of the troll
