Sentinel card protection

  • Hate to be one to raise a dead thread, but Sentinel is only worthwhile to a very small percentage of the UK population. And if you are one of those few, there are much better options. I am currently employed and the state of the company internally as well as the public offerings have drastically gone downhill in the past few years. The only reason I've stayed with them is that a bit of well placed brown nosing has allowed for some good promotions recently.

A steady job is a good job right now. And with how sneaky the company can be, ;), we should be in business for some time.

If anyone wants to know anything about the company, dont hesitate to shout.
  • I wouldn't touch this company with a ten foot barge pole.

Apparently I have been paying for protection for the past ten years. It's the first I heard of it. I rang them and they said when I took out a Barclaycard I signed an agreement stating I would take out protection.

I told them I never signed any agreement and to send a copy of that agreement to me, they said that they don't keep documents for that long. So as far as I am concerned they can't prove that I did sign anything.

And they have been sending details of my credit cards to an address I moved out of 9 years ago for the past 9 years. They said it was because I never told them I had moved, yeah, well I never even knew I was covered!!

Honestly, it was like speaking to a bunch of idiots.

    Hi
I know it's an old thread but I wonder if anyone knows of "shoppersadvantage"?
I can't find info on the Internet for it.
I've received a letter offering me £40 in petrol vouchers if I apply, whether or not I join - I am eligible because I'm a Credit Card Sentinel customer (was some years ago, not now).
I received a similar offer for restaurant discounts a couple of years ago, didn't join because there were no local restaurants, and the petrol vouchers were honoured.
    My questions are:
    Is it legit?
    Are the available discounts worthwhile?
Is it worth applying even if I decide not to join
    Thanks

Yeah got nailed by them the same way. They said to me they sent a renewal notice. I told em why would I have even bothered opening it , when I had never heard of them , I thought it was junk mail!

Anyway I told them that I had cancelled card protection on my barclaycard. They told me, that barclaycard could not cancel, my policy , I had to ring them directly to cancel it! !!!!!!!

I only knew that they were taking my money , when I notices 85.95 going out of my credit card! , and of course outside they refund window!

I told thgem cancel the !!!!!!! policy and wipe my name from their systems, will keep a close eye , if those !!!!ers ever turn up again I sue!! sooo angry , theiving gits!

    Hi
I've been with Sentinel for several years. I do find it reassuring to have all our cards/other personal information stored in one place and ease of stopping all cards with one phone call if necessary. Also the luggage tags/key rings they provide for returning same if they go missing. The premium has gone up to £85 which seems a bit steep and I'm concerned I might be covered by one of my numerous credit cards or if there's another cheaper provider?

"What is the cheapest way of obtaining a Sentinel-type service?"

I got it free recently when I signed up for a GOLD CLASSIC current account with Norwich & Peterborough.

This was opened primarily for the Visa debit card which has no fees at overseas ATMs - - but the Sentinel cover is a nice little bonus.

I've just received my renewal with Sentinel and it's now £85 for three years. Is it worth it, and are there any alternatives?
