Buy secondhand chalet shed summerhouse? What discount over new? What advice?

Thank you Looby. I will certainly reconsider.....0

The attractiveness of a garden building is in the eye of the beholder. Some see a particular structure as 'pretty,' while others see the same thing as fussy & twee. Sheds and summerhouses are as context-sensitive as anything else you place in the garden.
My only advice is to buy whatever suits the purpose best, then make it blend into the place where it sits. I was amazed at the difference when, tarting up my garden to sell the house, I 'invested' in one of Cuprinol's Heritage Shades. Normally, spending £40 on paint for a shed would have been a total no-no, but the effect was so good, I decided it was worth every penny. The dominant brown 'thing' in the corner literally faded into the green landscape and I wished I'd done it years before..
Just my 6 pennorth.0 -
i wouldnt pay any more than 200 quid0

The seller already has an offer for £500 from someone and another buyer in reserve clutching his wad of £450....And what would I like to offer to secure it?
Decision made really! Will be looking elsewhere!

I've just built a shed and storage area and it was all different colours of wood having been built from lots of different bits of reused wood, so a lighter stain wouldn't have worked very well. I went to Focus and got some interior splash proof bathroom paint, they do some fetching colours. My new structure is now a fetching shade of olive green and I have to say everyone really likes it, it sits really well in the garden and instead of being a (as Dave says) dominant thing in the middle of the garden, it fades away and becomes a feature and to be frank makes the rest of the garden look very untidy :rolleyes:Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

seriously, 500 quid :eek::eek::eek:
leave it well alone
get in your local yellow pages and look for " shed makers " and pop along and hang around, ask 1 of the guys how much for a shed the shape and style you want, cash and no questions asked
i am 99% you will be surprised at the money it will cost you0
