This brand newseller has sold the above item as well as satnav today. Both with:
paypal not accepted
no pick up available
no real picture of the goods..
The seller has named himself after a !!!!!! star, and has also said that the xbox 360 was a present, despite it having a load of games with it and a lot of accessories, and still lists it as new.
To me it seemed very fishy, and I have contacted the buyer (who is now concerned it may be fraud).
I am hoping that this was a genuine auction, but dont think that it is.
Can anybody please advise what I can tell this buyer? I dont want the seller to lose £300 via a BT.
Thanks

Are you the buyer or is the buyer a friend or relative?
If not, then I have to say that despite the fact that I agree with you that the buyer looks very dodgy, it really isn't anything to do with you and it is down to the buyer to do their own investigations.
The winning bidder looks to be very experienced from their feedback so should be well aware of the dangers, so to be honest I would recommend you stay out of it.0 -
I would suggest that they are indeed a dodgy seller. Put it this way I would NEVER buy anything of such expense from a user with 0 feedback who had joined recently, the buyer is very very brave.Stuff Happens As Wave of Ambiguity Spreads:cool:0

If the buyer now thinks he has been scammed then no one can force him to pay, he does of course risk a neg and a NPB strike.
The buyer has high feedback though, so he should know what he was doing, shouldn't he?
I personally wouldn't have bid as they don't take paypal, but then so many people tell me I'm not trusting enough so maybe others won't see a problem with paying such a large amount by a non secure method.

The buyer has been an Ebay member for nearly 3 years - it's astonishing that they would spend so much money with someone who only registered on April 4th
The only thing that the buyer could do is refuse to pay - which would get them a strike and, no doubt, a neg.
I'm always amazed that buyers don't do their homework - I mean, would you have spent nearly £300 with a brand new seller?
Edit: You beat me to it, Soo - we obviously think alike!
I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.0 -
It was the buyers son who did this, thru the parents account. And apparently he has already stumped up the cash.
I only came across it because my mums friend was looking at the sat nav.
Can you stop a Bank Transfer? Or are they really going to have to hope the 360 arrives??
Thanks for the responses..
Just trying to my bit of good for the community

Bank transfers cannot be stopped once they are in the recipients bank account. I believe, but am not 100% sure that a transfer can be recalled if it is still en route.

Cheers

I sent this thread on to the buyer, so they could keep tabs.Be nice0 -
Also tell your friends that they need to seriously re consider their internet security if another family member can access details like an ebay account without express permission.

Had a reply from the buyer...
many thanks for your help, i cant believe i am in this situation i am always really careful about reading feedback payment methods etc but my 12 year old son bid on it and i just paid how stupid is that! i am a very honest person and have had lots of brilliant trades on ebay both as a buyer and seller just did not check everything out, i dont think we will be getting the xbox as i requested contact info for seller from ebay and there was no address recorded and a phone number that was invalid no birthday present for my sons 13th birthday i suppose- i had no idea thatlex steele was a !!!!!! star! that shows what a sheltered existance i am currently leading!!
I know there are different sorts of people on here... those who say "its your own fault for being so stupid"... but scam only happen because people take advantage.
Ive told her to contact her bank and see if it can be stopped.
Thanks for your lightning responses.Be nice0 -

Anyone can set out with the intention to scam, however a scam will only work if someone falls for it.
