You might remember me asking about Norton from Ebay the other day. I've always used Norton 360, but I've noticed there's another one, internet security. Whats the difference please?

This Forum thread might help. TBH Dont get it. Nortons is a resource hogging program. If you want to pay for Internet Security. Get Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. It is alot better and better for both novice and advanced computer usersPeter: Hey Lois... what's this word? Lois: Evil. Peter: And this one? Lois: Knievel. Peter: And this one? Lois: Was. After all the advice you received in the last thread you posted why are you still considering Norton0

Because I've had it for a year and it's done what I needed it to. I'm not very "techy" tbh, changing to another one scares me :rotfl::o
So which is the best out of the two?Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
Always Kaspersky.
In 2008 a magazine did a test on all the top Virus security programs and out of 10 Kaspersky got 8.8 and nortons got something between 5-6.Peter: Hey Lois... what's this word? Lois: Evil. If I bought the Kaspersky, what would I need to do, uninstall the Norton that I have now and install that, is that all I'd need to do?Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0

I understand your reservations, and that previous thread did contain a lot of technobabble, but Norton really isn't that good and it is a big resource hog. Norton relies on people renewing their subscriptions, mainly through inertia.
If you uninstall it and use one of the free ones recommended you'll save 39 quid which you can then enjoy on a few bottles of wine, or something else that takes your fancy0 -

Use the uninstaller from there website

Using Add/Remove programs will not remove it all.
Once you have dont this and after a couple of reboots. then you install Kaspersky Internet Security 2009.Peter: Hey Lois... what's this word? Lois: Evil. Peter: And this one? Lois: Knievel. Peter: And this one? Lois: Was. Peter: And this one? Lois: Born. Peter: And this one? Lois: In.

THANK YOU!! I really didn't understand much of that thread if I'm honest:o:o but didn't want to say!!
Incidentally, my friend has AVG and her computer is totally virused - We are going to split the cost, looking at Kaspersky on ebay I can get it for about £16 so only £8 each.
Is is the 2009 version I need?Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -

I can't say why your friend's computer is infected but I'm assuming that she hasn't updated the virus database frequently enough, antivirus software that is not updated with the latest virus definitions is worthless.
Your friend could try a free virus and malware scan here, I'd be interested to know what the infections are.

Claire ~ Kaspersky is head and shoulders better than Norton and surely its worth changing to a far better security program as if Norton fails you then you ARE in trouble
Use the Norton removal tool to completely remove it (Else youll probably have problems with parts of it staying in the system)

Id suggest your friend posts on here as simply installing kaspersky will probably not work (Depending on how bad it is):idea:0
