MATALAN - SALE Get in there first!

:)The January Sale at Matalan officially starts on Boxing Day...but if youre not too busy on Xmas Eve (Fri) after lunchtime, all of the sale prices are activated then. The great thing about this is that the place is dead of all shoppers. you can walk around in virtual peace, choose what you want, use the fitting rooms with the added bonus of no queues. I have done this for the past 2 years and bought all my work shirts, jeans, at basically half price. Its worth giving up an hour or so of your time on Friday rather than wait for the mad rush >:(on Boxing Day. Good luck and a have a great xmas! ;D

I think you are thinking of Costco where you do have to pay a membership fee. Never heard of it with Matalan.

You can become a member of the 'Matalan' club there and then...I think it costs £1..which is well worth it at sale times. I think thats for life membership!

Ages ago you had to pay a £1 for membership at Matalan, but that's now been scrapped. ;D

Matalan sell "big brand" name stuff to, this will only be the same quality that you will buy for a higher price in say a high street sports shop!

Dont know how you can make a comment like that!

Matalan does exactly what it says on the tin.

I wouldn't go as far as to say there stuff is rubbish but it's not top notch stuff either. Good for clothes for every day use and some of there gadgets and kitchen stuff are really reasonable.

Will be heading there tomorrow to grab a bargain or two.

Ref Matalan I have had no problems with kit bought from there at all !!!! Some food stuffs dearer than Big Supermarkets but still has some bargains to offer !

For military personnel if you show your id card they will give you a day pass which allows you to buy anything on the shelves.

I'm slightly confused are you saying just the price codes are activated or that the sale tickets are all out too?

The staff start to put the Sale price tickets on the merchandise on Xmas Eve and are updating them throughout the day. By lunchtime I suppose they still havent finished...you may need to ask staff for the sale price of certain items that you are interested in. The sale barcodes however are activated around lunchtime even though some of the tickets might not reflect the new price. Some of the stuff on sale at Mataln, particularly their own brands (Armando and Zantos) arent top quality but are ok for work (if you dont work in a fashion house) but other makes they have in there (clothes) are pretty good (eg Wrangler, Levi, Lee Cooper, Rael Brook, Falmer, Wolsey, Ben Sherman, Nike, Adidas etc).
