the lid of my gerbilarium is made of a wooden frame with chicken wire stretched across it so i fashioned a wire cage for the water bottle to hang from.
you cant use a normal fish tank lid because the gerbs wont get enough air. being in a tank really stresses their lungs already! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -

I've read about those wooden frames for the tops, the fella I'm getting the tank off has the top and I was going to drill holes in the lid but I will look into that mesh idea.
Have to admit I ain't great at designing things lol, is the wire study enough to hold it?0 -
I took a fairly longed piece of wire, wrapped a loop from the centre around the neck of the bottle, twisted both pieces together till about a cm from the bottom of the bottle, looped it round again, twisted and then it hangs from the lip of the tank no problem. I hope that the above all makes sense and that you can visualise it ok!Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. Soreen Kierkegaard 1854.0

I found that if i didnt case the hole bottle in wire they just nibbled on a corner til there was a hole haha! Bloomin quick they are aswel at destroying things
My frame is just some simple 2x4 pine (b&q will cut it to the right size for you!) then i got some nail staples and hammered those into the corners to make the frame and to attach the chicken wire. Simple! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
thanks for the replies people, nice and helpful!0

Thread bump.
Does anyone know where I can get those Savic tube ends for the modular stuff they do? Now I think Pets @ Home do the connector rings but I am not sure whether they do the rounded tougher end ring. Our 2 nightmares have gotten through the one end we had and are eating through the normal rings like they are butter!0
