The BBC And Analogue TV

Ironically another group of viewers who would have missed out were those tennis fans who had set their recorders to BBC1 up to 6pm and then BBC2 after that time to watch the game later on. They would have missed the final part of the match!
I don't get this "it must be shown on BBC1 if it's an important match". If you have BBC1 then you most certainly will also have BBC2. So what's the big deal in not watching it on the latter channel? What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

If you have the Internet. But if you don't and the analogue service in your area has been switched off, then your stuffed. I imagine there were a lot of disappointed elderly people in those areas after missing their local news last night. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
A few elderly people may have been disappointed, but in the main Wimbledon has drawn 12 million+
Damn site more than football ever does. What with all the channels available, people are not forced to watch...they want to watch. BBC is and has covered Wimbledon very well.0 -

I am not disputing that. My argument is that it was totally unnecessary to keep the match on BBC1 when they should have kept to the original schedule and changed over to BBC2 at 6pm. Then the tennis fans would have continued to watch the game, and the local news could have been broadcast on BBC1.What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

However, I'm not holding my breath. NewsWatch have in the past been completely useless about this kind of complaint. Even if they do feature it and drag in a Programme Scheduler to discuss the complaint, we just get fobbed off with the remark "Lessons will be learnt". They're not.
My bug-bear is special events, where both BBC One and BBC News24 maintain live coverage for the duration. Why? We have no choice, even on digital, about receiving BBC One in the UK (and we get charged a licence fee for doing so) - so why does the News channel have to switch over to live coverage too? Surely they could maintain their half-hourly bulletins and just feature the highlights.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
