This issue has been discussed many times before. Personally I leave feedback for buyers after they've left it for me. I do this just incase, if for example I left them + feedback and they then claimed through PayPal for an item not arrived and - me I would be very unhappy...
This debate is a really a case of the chicken and the egg, no one knows who should leave feedback first, it all comes down to the individual. The bigger sellers on eBay tend to leave feedback for buyers immediately on payment and the smaller sellers tend to wait I find. But basically it all comes down to the fear of a negative being received from a buyer, when the seller has done nothing wrong..Stuff Happens As Wave of Ambiguity Spreads:cool:0 -
The feedback system on eBay is pants.
I've seen several sellers who state in their item description that they only leave feedback after a buyer has left theirs and they will leave negative feedback for any buyer who negs them even if they got their money 3 seconds after the sale.
Lousy sellers have good feedback because buyers are scared to neg them making the whole system a joke. Add to that buyers who leave negative feedback because they had a bad day or didn't read the item description.
It's voluntary so if you feel like leaving honest feedback go for it and if you think they're taking the !!!!!! but you're happy with the deal just don't leave any.

I always wait for the buyer to leave it and then I do, its just to ensure I don't leave it then when they get the product they have problems and are quick to react with negative feedback rather than resolve it by email etc.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 0650

I mail my buyers when I've posted their item and ask them to let me know when they have received it and are happy, so that I can leave f/b, or have a chance to resolve the issue if they are unhappy. very often they mail back and leave f/b, but I never ask them to leave f/b.
If I haven't heard anything after 4 weeks, I leave positive f/b, on the grounds that I would have heard if they had a problem. It works for me...........
I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.0 -
Feedback is totally OPTIONAL so why get stressed when you don't get it? Hubby used to leave f/b as soon as payment was received but got a couple of totally unjustified negs from buyers who can't read descriptions properly. If he got f/b for every item he had ever bought or sold his total would be way higher than it is.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0

As a seller I always leave feedback once the buyer has done so that I know the item has got to its destination safely and is as required by the buyer. I put a note in with the item thanking them for their purchase, for them to please leave feedback and I will do so as return.Weight Loss - 102lb0

I think Lulubelle has a very logical method in place.0

I as the seller will leave feedback as soon as payment has been received because their but is done. If they want to then leave me negitive then that's up to them.
When buying, it really bugs me when sellers don't leave feedback until I have done so. If I do get postitive feedback from a seller before the item has been received but there is a problem I feel happy that they are genuine because of the fact that they have already given me positive feedback to which they would not risk or have done so if they was scamming!Regards,
Dave

I've only ever been a buyer on Ebay but as soon as i receive the item in a reasonable time and made sure its as described i leave positive feedback.
If i was the seller i would leave the feedback as soon as i had been paid and funds cleared etc.0 -
I used to leave feedback first, but I was spending hours of unpaid overtime every week to leave it, and half of the buyers didn't bother to reciprocate.
Then you get the people who'll neg you because an item hasn't arrived two days after they ordered it (never mind if those two days were Saturday and Sunday!); cheques that bounce after the goods have been sent; PayPal charge-backs after the goods have been sent; people who'll leave bad feedback because they didn't read the item description properly or they think you should only charge them for the stamp and not the jiffy bag and so on and so on.
Now my account automatically reciprocates feedback received and I have more time to concentrate on actually fulfilling orders, which is what really matters.0
