the thing to think about is the circumstances surrounding why he bought it for you. Have you ever worn it? If it were me, I'd sell it in a shot because of the memory it specifically brings with it.

I know I don't actually know him other than what I already knew - the public image of him, and the couple of conversations I've had with him when you said to contact him.........but part of me thinks from what I do know of him that he won't even remember buying it for you.....he was probably more consumed with trying to appease his guilt and it was just an impulse buy with the thought 'expensive=forgiveness'.

I sold a vase about 3 years ago my ex bought me the last Christmas or the one before that we were together. I needed the money and it was quite a rare one from Poole Pottery. It sold for £120 and whilst I was never keen on it, I did feel bad about it for a bit.

I wore it on the christmas day and probably the days after that. I discovered the 19 year old on 29th december and walked out there and then. We had a spa trip in Austria booked for the 2nd January, he begged and begged for us to go, but I went over to the house to get my things and took the tickets. So, I went away on my own for 5 days.

When I came back he was still begging for another chance (this was about the 5th time in as many years he'd been with someone else, usually his ex wife, but I'm sure there were others). I found out (from his ex wife) that the 19 year old had moved into the house the day I left for Austria.

There was a long period of time when he did the 'pop in' at my house. He turned up at least once a week wanting us to get back together and once I'm ashamed to say we even slept together. Apart from that hiccup I did stand my ground though.

Then I met fran and the day fran moved in I went home and saw the ex's car outside my house, no ex. I was horrified thinking he was inside with fran and god knows what was happening. So, I went inside but all was calm and when I looked out of the window the exs car was gone.

He called me later that day to say he had been waiting for me because he had decided he wanted to force me to go home with him and for us to get married. I told him I'd moved on and Fran was living with me now.

A few weeks later after endless texts I met him for dinner in the little place we used to go to all the time. I told him that I would never love someone like I had loved him and that was a good thing. We both cried all through dinner (thank god it was a private room). And we both left.

He's moved on too now, he still sends the odd text now and then, well, he did until I changed number. But mostly he leaves me alone.

I do miss him sometimes, I miss the life we led even though it was bloody expensive. I have loads of things here from that era though, loads of designer clothes, ball gowns, jewellery and photos from holidays we took. None of them bother me but seeing this stupid watch has brought it all back.

So, yeah, time to go and the memories of that christmas can go with it. :)

Sorry for the ramble, I just needed to get that out of my system I think.

    Time for wine :D

I was thinking of doing fajitas (because that's one of the few things I can make that taste nice! Albeit with the help of Mr Schwarz... :o).

And then little pots of salsa, soured cream, refried beans (guilty pleasure :D), possibly guacamole (I used to make this all the time....I just used avocado, lime, salt & pepper, sometimes tiny bits of chopped tomato, chilli - does that sound about right or am I missing a vital ingredient?).

That's if I don't get dumped before I get chance! :rotfl:

Nacho's are easy - bag of tortilla chips on a dinner plate - make a hole in the middle and add a couple of big spoons of salsa. Add a bit of chopped chilli all over and cover the middle with grated cheddar and or mozzarella. Stick in oven for about 8-10 minutes. Lush :D

Toto, you were very brave to make a stand and move on from that relationship. It's an incredibly difficult thing to do.

I think most people have someone like that in their lives - the one who could have been everything, if only they had been a bit less twunty.

My friend calls them your 'car crash chap'. They will always have the ability to draw your attention, no matter how hard you try to look the other way. But if you get too close, you'll never walk away unscathed.

You remember the rush of adrenaline long after the pain starts to ease, and it sometimes makes you think the excitement was worth it, but it never is.

    Relating? Me? :rotfl:
