Counterfeit DVDs

Might make people think twice about buying them on Ebay? Buying them supports major crime and the police are now taking counterfeiting DVDs very seriously.

There are so many illegal dvd's out there on ebay. Mostly software, search for "adobe photoshop". This retails about £900 yet copies are on ebay for anywhere between £7 and £15. Do ebay take these down? Well sometimes, but theres so much stuff on there its hard for them to keep track and they cant tell its a fake just by checking the title, they wud have to go into the ad etc. At the end of the day ebay are making money and i dont think they care, better reporting these people to the companies like "paramount" or whoever it is that produces the dvd's.

it is never legal to sell a copy.
    "it's a back up copy" - doesn't matter, it's illegal
"It's your responsibility to make sure you own the original" - doesn't matter, it's illegal

Ebay policy is quite quite clear on this and you can report any seller offering copyrighted goods for sale which are not original factory pressings.
    Ebay Policy here

I frequently report sellers for selling copies. Whether is does any good or not I don't know, but I will never bid on anything which doesn't state that it's original and have an accompanying real photo.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.

Anybody selling more than one package of the same software should be asked to prove they are a legitimate reseller. But think of the fees eBay would lose if they did this.
    Can I help?

i agree there are so many copies of everythink on ebay not just dvd and cd and software but also cloths bags and more i think it should be down to the companies and ebay to make it harder to sell i mean as far as software goes it is so simply to get any software for free and burn the full version to disk and sell it and of course people ae going to do it even if it is wrong and ebay dont care about it they making loads of money from these sales the only time they will care is if they get bad presss about it they will look into it i mean i brougth a lacost tracksuit off ebay for like £40 pounds and it was fake im just really carfull what i buy from now on

I've sold a few DVDs on Ebay and the most common question was "are they orignals"... I must admit that obviously I am too honest as I felt quite insulted at the suggestion that I would sell illegal copies! :) Looking at what others have been through tho then maybe the questions were well founded but it certainly peeved me off at the time.
