I still don't believe some agents when we used to have to link in with them on chain chasing. with commnts like:

"No one in today that does email can you wait until tomorrow"

"Yes of course we check emails regularly ---- twice every week without fail"

And loads more so looking like they still are not in the 21st Century:eek:

    A vent at Estate Agents

Reminds me of Le P!tomane.. see...
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_P%C3%A9tomane

Seems "A vent at Estate Agents" would be entirely appropriate for some EAs.. (not all, some are decent people/companies..)

    Cheers!

Email some others.......then when you purchase through the other agents, ring the ones who didn't reply and tell them......that'll teach em lol
My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say ;)

    Useless the lot of 'em.

Twice I've had them not show up for viewings, that was bad enough but both times they rang me the next day asking for my opinion on the property.

Another agent told me I had to come into their office to get a HIP, I was busy with work so my mum offered to go - they were rude to her and told her it was only available by email.

I had one not turn up to a viewing, and when I phoned them 20 minutes later they assured me he had been there and I hadn't! They are a terrrible agency though, I know a number of people who have been messed around by them

So I take it the previous posters don't think that any of these ever happen......

EA turns up at viewing to find Member of the Public (MotP) hasn't turned up at all.

EA is punctual, MotP arrives 15 mins late.

EA arrives for viewing, and 5 mins before allotted time, MotP phones and says; "I can't make it, can we view it an hour later?"

It's windy and rainy on the evening of the (winter) viewing, and it's dark. 10 mins after the allotted time, and now at the property to be viewed, EA phones absent viewer (who's at home, funnily enough.....), only to be told "No, we can't make it tonight" without any further elaboration.

.....or do our previous posters believe that more EAs fail to make their viewings than MotPs ??? Discuss.

I am sure that it is not unknown for potential buyers to fail to show or turn up late etc and I am not excusing that but all I can say is that during all the times we've been house hunting we have never failed to show and only once been 10 minutes late (due to an accident closing the road) for which we apologised profusely. Conversely, it is rare in our experience for the EA to arrive on time. In the past week alone we have viewed three properties with different EAs conducting the viewings and they were 8, 10 and 22 minutes late (dh has a radio controlled watch and is slighty anal about time keeping :D). Not one of them even bothered to acknowledge thier lateness let alone explain or apologise. One of the houses we went to view had tenants in. When we arrived at the exact time agreed, the tenant let us in and was co-operative enough to suggest we had a wander round by ourselves (far more than I would have done in her situation, especially as she had a baby and a young child). When I told her how kind that was of her she just shrugged and said, "The EA is always late, the last couple who came to view had finished looking round and left before he even got here".

I would suggest that it gives a far more professional image if the EA actually plans to arrive a few minutes before the allotted time in order to greet the potential buyers. Just because a certain percentage of potential buyers are rude and inconsiderate enough not to keep appointments etc this does not justify an EA behaving unprofessionally to every buyer. I am a teacher... some parents are rude and inconsiderate, bring their children in late on a regular basis, disrupting things for everyone etc etc ... that does not give me the right to stroll in to work whenever I feel like it!

As Nenen suggests - Googler. Yes i'll gladly discuss. I work in care. I have rude clients, i can't tell you the times i've been sworn at etc, but that doesn't give me the right to behave anything other than professional, even to the ones that are not shortcoming with their behavioural issues.

In fact if you're dealing with the public, you'll have their bad manners in any area. Does your doctor display missed appointments etc? You probably get off lightly as an ea. The fact that you are even giving us a comparison shows you can't think from the customers point of view. If you look at this as some form of competition as who's the worst treated, then you really shouldn't be dealing with the public. I have no empathy with you as you provide a service, as with anyone who provides a service you're not going to have perfect customers all the time. You get paid at the end of a day. A potential house buyer doesn't get paid and is relying on your services that you purport to offer.

I have found the ea we are dealing with rude and underhand. However some have been very, very good. Unfortunately the house we want to buy is with the rude ones!

So because EAs sometimes get messed around it's OK for them to mess other people around?
